Hiring fedora or Morris would not put a smile on my face.

Well, perhaps the ideal situation is to hire a competent OC and the head coach get his act together to maintain continuity.

Yeah to me this makes the most sense mostly because of the current coaching market. Next year will be alot better.

I mean you say that...BUT...there's a very real chance you're competing with Texas, lsu and maybe auburn for new coaches. Obviously it's not ideal hiring at this point in the year, but neither is bidding against those other schools.

But to your point, it is silly to fire sumlin now without having a solid coach you want leading your program moving forward.

If Sumlin hires a competent OC, say Doug Meacham, that would place solid coaches in charge on offense and defense.

Then if there is anything to this NFL thing and he leaves, we have the option to promote either coordinator to the top job. Chavis may not even want overall responsibility, preferring to just focus on the defense.

That's one of several reasons why his OC hire is pretty important. It needs to be a man that could move into a head coach position, since it's an unknown who we could get at this late of date.

Actually he wanted to come here or tech initially. He hired from our coaching tree initially at UH.

How can I link something that is on someone else's phone. I'm sure they will be posted somewhere on the Web if Sumlin is let go.

you said it had gone "public" which I assumed meant posted on the Internet somewhere.

Looks like Dr RC has self-moderated.

ETA: I don't recall him writing anything controversial. My guess is he doesn't want his (fake) name associated with this thread. By the morning anybody using Google to search for "Sumlin < career killing bad thing >" will get a hit on this thread.

He's actually coming to LSU to be a consultant QB coach.

As in he's going to teach Miles how to run off all the awful QBs you all have on your roster? Because he can help with that.

Dude I would actually take it.
Anything to get a halfway decent QB.

Do any of the idiots on the zoo know anything or are they nothing but trolls? There are more anonymous sources on there than in a Chip Brown write up.
