Slocum, a College Football Hall of Fame inductee who coached at Texas A&M from 1989 to 2002 and is the winningest coach in school history, is joined on the committee by Arkansas State athletic director Terry Mohajir and Ray Odierno, a retired military man who served as the chief of staff for the United States Army from 2011-15 and played football at West Point.

The new members will replace former Southern Mississippi coach Jeff Bower, ex-Central Michigan coach Herb Deromedi and former Vanderbilt coach Bobby Johnson, whose terms on the selection committee expired.

Slocum, Mohajir and Odierno will serve three-year terms starting this spring.

Optimal outcome:

Some time in the next 3 years, the sips get passed over for the playoff by a frog's hair.

The conspiracy and melt would be delicious and go on for decades.

It would be perfect if LieSU gets left out. The melt would be even greater.

Yup. A team of battle-tested upper classmen facing a favorable schedule.

Hell it was always “just wait till next year” under Sumlin. People had excuses lined up for why 15, 16, and 17 were going to be “the year it all comes together”.

And thanks I had finally just about written 2011 and all those second half collapses out of memory until this morning..... as predictably disappointing as sumlin’s seasons were at the end, I will say I don’t think his worst season even comes close to 2011.

I do agree that 2020 is a pivotal year for Jimbo. It’s not quite over if we don’t win 10+ games or anything, but my enthusiasm will take a hit and I’ll be more skeptical of our program moving forward.

Didnt we all...

One of the most disappointing years weve ever had. 2013 was bad. 2014 was bad. 2015 was really bad. 2017 was laughable. But 2011 was a punch in the balls. If it wasnt for the Baylor game (Sucks to BU) that year would have been complete shite.

If it wasn't for the Baylor game a team that started off top 10 would have missed a bowl

That entire year just blew chunks. To the point where I've almost purposefully blocked it from my mind.

Even with the Baylor game, we were a successful onside kick away from blowing ANOTHER 2+ score 2nd half lead and having 7 losses (led Texas Tech 45-30 in the 4th and won 45-40)

Yup. But it was nice to finally beat them a few times before we left. I can’t remember a less talented team that just had our number. It’s mind of like MSU in the SEC now.

I believe it was 3 games we had a 17+ point lead and blew it in the 3rd quarter.

We also lost in 2010 and 2011 to Oklahoma State in games we should have won.

Only game lost that year that the team wasn't up double digits was OU and that game was a 13-10 deficit at the half.

Okie Lite - up 20-3 at half, lost 30-29 (plus Dez Bryant did not play)

Pig - up 35-17 at half, lost 42-38

Mizzou - up 28-14 late 2nd, 28-17 at half, lost 38-31 in OT

OU - down 13-10 at half, gave up 28 in 3rd, lost 41-25

KSU - 14-14 at half, up 31-21 w/6:38 left in 4th, lost 53-50 in 4OT

sips - up 13-0 early in 2nd, 16-7 at half, fell behind 24-16 in 3rd, rallied to go up 25-24 w/1:48 (was loud AF when Fuller scored that last TD) but then we had the infamous personal foul helmet to helmet (which would probably get called targeting today lol) w/36 seconds left the defense gave up a huge scramble from the 48 to to 23, and then the most puke inducing loss I've ever attended finished out Sherman's career.

Second half collapses weren't just a 2011 thing either. If you look back over Sherman's time at A&M the second half of games was almost always a big fat rotten egg.

I thought a bullshite PI put Texas into field goal range? Maybe I've just warped that day in my brain because it was so incredibly fricked up. I do use Justin Tucker in fantasy a lot though. He is a good kicker.

I believe it was just the personal foul on Hunter early in in the drive after an incomplete pass on 3rd down that gave them the spark they needed.

I must have been raging (and coming down from my buzz) too hard in the stadium to think clearly during the shitshow
