"We’ve still got some in-house cleaning in making sure we get everybody on board and eliminate some of the problems, which we have, and just address the problems we had last year and make sure we have the right mindset going forward. But I do feel confident in these kids and the direction they’re going to take this thing.”

Does anybody else catch a hint of chemistry issues with this quote? Or am I reading too much into it. Which is a very good possibility too

Sounds like there isn't full buy in. Plain and simple.

It may be effort in learning the system, blocking, and staying focused to catch the dang ball.

I think he was just being humble bc he knows there's crosshairs on him and a lot of complaints. Ie physicality, drops

We're going to blow the doors off a lot of teams this year.

I can't say it enough, but we had the 30th best offense in the country with our OC handcuffed the entire season.

It's certainly possible, but I won't completely buy in until I see the on-the-field product.

blocking, and staying focused to catch the dang ball.

If we do these things we will average 50 points a game

Allen is going to be amazing chucking the ball to RSJ and speedy

I don't know what the hell that quote means. What was the context in which he said it?

It sounds like coach talk. It's not meant to be understood.

Here is the surrounding segment from the article:

In 2014 the Aggies averaged 455.4 yards per game to rank 30th in the nation in total offense. They did that despite using two quarterbacks who were in their first year as starters, having three receivers in their first year of major college football and working with an offensive line that struggled with injuries.

Offensive Coordinator Jake Spavital has already said he expects this season’s offense to be substantially more productive than last year’s. He said he expects A&M’s offense to rank among the top 12 in the nation.

“I like where this offense is now,” Spavital said last month. “I’m always am going to be confident with the kids because I know we have the talent in the room to attain that goal.

"We’ve still got some in-house cleaning in making sure we get everybody on board and eliminate some of the problems, which we have, and just address the problems we had last year and make sure we have the right mindset going forward. But I do feel confident in these kids and the direction they’re going to take this thing.”

Sounds like he's talking blocking

We'll get that fixed, then a average 1,000,000 yds per game

I'm assuming part of the "problems" were the running back committee. None of the running backs seemed too happy with it and it started showing on the sidelines late in the season.

I kind of got the impression that the WR corps wasn't thrilled with the "nothing but screens" offense, either.

Thanks. That makes better sense. I misconstrued the phrase "which we have". I first thought he was referring to problems "which we (currently) have". But it looks like he is referring to problems "which we have (eliminated)". That's mucho bettero.

Running Back committee
B.J. Anderson
Receiver drops
Kenny Hill's northgate antics
Weak effort in the interior of the O-Line

I leave anything out?

It wasn't nothing but screens...it was one full half of screens. They never saw that 10 yard post we threw mid-3rd quarter coming!

Sounds to me like coach "bubble screen" knows he is in over his head.

I don't like the sound of it at all. If he's this lost in the woods, Sumlin needs to pull the plug on the Coach Spaz Experiment and hand the reins to Christensen, who is an adult and a proven commodity at this job.

That's why he hired him.

1. Spav has a great year he is gone to a HC job, Christensen steps in

2. Spav struggles with play calling, he is gone, in steps Christensen

I say #1 happens. Too many top offensive weapons this year. We are gonna put up big numbers and shred everyone except Bama
