2-9 vs Oklahoma.
What other real teams have played in the Big12 that are worth a damn?

I don't want us to hire another spread offensive coach. I was at a high school game last night and both schools were running "our" offense. I saw so many things wrong with both teams fundamentally that it was shocking. Linemen not knowing how to be linemen, guys playing RB that should be waterboys, receivers that should be FBs, etc.
Whoever we hire needs to run a balanaced Wing T or some variation. I'm convinced that today's defenses cannot stop a hard nose pounding offensive linemen.
No. More. Spread.

Who the frick downvoted this?
Are you happy with our offensive ideology? Are you happy with poor football fundamentals? Are you happy with Charmin Soft linemen and not being able to run between the tackles? Are you happy with throwing 3 passes inside the 5 yard line?
Good fricking grief...

Even though you're trolling with your wing T bs, I see the spread criticism enough that I'm going to answer you seriously.
The problems with our offense under Sumlin have been play calling and poor coaching. There's nothing fundamentally wrong with spread formations. Our spread sucked in 14&15 because the OL play fell off a cliff. When Turner came back, our production immediately began to turn around. Note: that doesn't prevent Mazzone from calling two fades from the 3 on 1st and goal.
BTW other offensive systems can be poorly coached too. Not sure how poor OL fundamentals have anything to do with the spread.

Plenty of spread offenses that run the ball physically.

Calm down friend
There's nothing inherently wrong with the spread. Auburn uses spread formations exclusively, they just use a bunch of zone read and veer concepts. They are first and foremost a power run team.
What it sounds like you take issue with is the air raid, a more modern spin on the run and shoot from the 80s and early 90s. We haven't run the air raid since Kenny Hill was benched in 2014. Against UCLA we essentially ran dive, zone, power and sweep plays out of a three wide set with an H back all night. We ran the ball more times in one game than some air raid teams of the past did in half a season.

Sumlin is out after the season, and we are willing to pony up $6-$10 million for a proven head coach. Woodward has a list of 6-7 candidates (3 Big Ten, 2 ACC and 1 SEC/PAC-12) and we're shooting for the moon
So can we talk coaching searches again?

He gone and I apologize for my pumped sunshine. I've got a serious kool aid hangover.

Doesn't matter if we land the moon or not. Sumlin did not live up to expectations, period. Hiring no Mazzoni was the nail in the coffin. It was just a matter of time. So going in a different direction is necessary

Once again, I'm ok with making a bad hire as long as we're trying. You keep shooting your shot and we will hit eventually. Can't be a sleeping giant forever.
