I think you do what you need to to make him happy. Maybe you add $$ if you're uncomfortable about years. He's the right fit for a&m and he has shown that from day one. Dude lives on land, hunts, fishes, rides horses. He's our kinda guy. It feels nothing like when Sumlin came and I was a fan of the "cool" factor he brought. We needed what he brought to the table when he came. I was pumped about the hire when it was made - though I liked Sherman and would have been fine keeping him (actually got to pray for him one time in All Faiths, went in there to pray and do some bible study and he was sitting in there solo)

Anyway. I liked Sumlin and was pumped when he got some momentum with Johnny, but this is a whole other level of different. Solid foundation, holes filled in roster, elite staff hires both on field and in supporting role.

You do what you need to in order to keep this guy.

Point being is we dont need to extend him. We have him for 7 more years. If someone starts sniffing around him and wants to throw 8+ years at him then fine. Lets see what we can do. But no reason to just add more years onto a deal that basically already carried with it an extension on an average coaching deal

Im all for looking back at bonuses and whatnot and doing what we need to do to make him happy. But we should just be extending him when we have all these years left and no one is really pushing for him right now

If he wins all but Bama this year and signs a top five class, I don't think you wait until someone else is pushing for him. You give him something to keep saying "you're our guy". I know he can walk for nothing but it's like with Kobe, Dirk, LBJ etc you give the no trade clause bc that's what you do to show the commitment.

Maybe it's not more years but you increase his annual salary or something

Wasn’t the story that we were ready for a counter offer if Jimbo wanted more then $75 million already? Just pull that check out of Sharp’s drawer.

Right now Jimbo can leave whenever he wants with no penalty. Maybe you make it hurt a little if he leaves. He now makes less than Saban, Dabo, Riley, & Mullen. In exchange for more money and a few more years make the buyout exist. Plus get him his 90M in new facilities he wants. Keep him happy and win a shite ton of football games.

I support that completely

10 years, pay right below Saban, 50 mil buyout

No extensions, rework bonuses that can take him up to sabans money total

The assistant and resource money is irrelevant cause he already has a blank check

And the ole miss 247 site is randomly calling us his leader right now while perroni and VOLS 247 is saying we are gaining momentum lmao

We might actually sign a dline class of

Nolen
Bear
Sylla
Cooper

With a 50/50 shot at GDB and being seriously considered by shemar stewart. Yuh

Scarlet too. It'll be interesting to see how many DL we end up signing.

If we get some of these big-time recruiting wins, I hope we can pull in Dewberry and get Banks to reconsider Oregon.

That's pretty funny. This feels really similar to the last coaching staff recruiting efforts in Austin.

Looks like Dindy is moving his time table forward. I wonder if that is because we are starting to fill up? It's either us or OU

I don't think he has any risk of losing his spot. Top 10 guys in the nation decide when they want to decide. But we are better off knowing sooner than later regardless.

Guys are starting to make their plans to enroll early with school starting and I think those are moving their plans up. Dindy is the type who will have a spot until signing day
