Brewster is a helluva recruiter, and he should bring in solid TEs. I was just kinda joking about the fact that y'all can't have him.

I obviously want him in Athens, and as of now, expect him to end up there.

It will be interesting to see what kind of push Jimbo is able to create by the second signing day. It seems like a large number of kids are waiting. I do sense that the house of cards in Austin is falling, and we need recognize that our biggest recruiting rivals are OU, LSU, and Alabama.

I keep hearing this but they have a very talented class right now. I mean they're #2 right now. I wonder what the issue is?

I do believe that the '19 class for Jimbo will be very telling. I am excited for the future battles.

All skill players, no interior players. Just like Franchione's 2003 and 2005 classes and Sumlin's 2013 class.

That to me is a product of Herman. In his mind running his offense maybe doesn't depend on having the top notch lineman. I know I believe it all starts and ends in the trenches. Maybe in the flag football league he doesn't believe it's a necessity.

You still need guys who can protect the QB and get to the QB if you’re trying to beat OU and TCU every year and their class doesn’t have those. They have a ton of talented DBs and WRs in that class but little up front on either side and we might be flipping the best and only DL in their class

I completely agree and read OB. They are complaining about not having the beef on the lines. But off of that.

They are loading up on players based on rank for the hype/press of it, irrespective of team needs. They are going to be hurting in a couple years and half those perimeter players will transfer.

Liucci:

Fisher and the new guys in Maroon & White are setting their sights on the best prospects in the country and are supremely confident in their ability to first get their desired targets on campus and, ultimately, closing them out. If this is what we're already seeing, just imagine what Fisher and Co. will be able to do with a full cycle to recruit the Class of 2019. Get ready to change the way you think when it comes to Texas A&M's recruiting reach and the caliber of prospect that they go out and land, both in state and beyond. Oh yeah, and I've been told the 12th Man should buckle up for January because Jimbo and the Aggies plan on welcoming an absolutely loaded group of visitors to campus during the Signing Day home stretch.

-Another example of the Aggies making lightning-fast moves on the recruiting front is the staff getting Oregon commit and JUCO stud Mohamed Diallo in town for an official this weekend. The 6-4, 320-pound defensive tackle is still committed to the Ducks but word I'm hearing is that his visit to Aggieland was an eye-opener and perhaps even a game-changer. The only issue here - and it's a significant one - is that he would have to pass an extra math class (in the classroom and not on-line) in order to qualify to play in the SEC. It's a quirk I've mentioned before and one that has had an effect on the decisions of many a JC standout since the Ags joined the league six years ago. If he wants to be at A&M badly enough, however, the spring grad could be in Aggieland by mid-summer.

-An interesting visitor arrived on Saturday in the form of Kansas commit Clayton Tune. The quarterback was drawing serious interest from Ole Miss and Baylor but the Rebels landed five-star Matt Corral and BU seems to have Tune as a fallback option. Though he didn't leave with an offer, this is a player former Memphis OC Darrell Dickey is familiar with and probably someone to watch depending on how things go with the Ags' recruiting efforts at the position moving forward.

Another possibility worth monitoring on the QB front has to do with longtime Oklahoma commit Tanner Mordecai. On Sunday, I heard that the Aggies at least opened up the lines of communication with one of 2017's breakout Texas prep stars. Mordecai has accounted for nearly 5,500 yards of offense and 70 TDs as a senior while leading Waco Midway to an undefeated season and a berth in next weekend's 6A Division 2 state title game. An awful lot would have to happen here in a very short period of time (on both sides, mind you) because Tanner does currently plan to ink with OU during the early signing period. There are some strong family ties to A&M there, however, and it's not like the current A&M staff was the one that overlooked the semi-local star throughout the process. Again, I don't expect much to materialize here but it's just something worth keeping an eye on.

-The players whose status we'll update later this evening are Boling RB and Alabama commit Vernon Jackson and the two longtime A&M commits and Dallas-area defenders - Bobby Brown and DaShaun White. Brown deciding to drive down to College Station just days before the early signing period was a monster development for Fisher and the Ags and everything we're hearing is that White's visit was a home run. OU has been steadily chipping away at the Ags for both players and Alabama is also all over Brown and, to be honest, I think the Ags would have had a pretty difficult time hanging on to the four-star defenders. As it stands on Sunday evening, things are looking much more promising, provided the Aggies can navigate the fact that there isn't a defensive coordinator in place.

As for Jackson, Jimbo Fisher's visit to Boling on Thursday prior to his trip to the West Coast was particularly impactful, as the Aggies were able to really hammer home how they planned to utilize the 240-pound back in Fisher's offense. All of that sounded very intriguing for the Crimson Tide pledge, who now has sort things out. Remember, Jackson can still take an official visit to Aggieland in January if he doesn't sign with Bama this week. Either that, or he could shock Saban and the rest of the SEC and ink with the home state Aggies during the early signing period (less likely).

-With the Ags trending up for Jackson, let's take a quick look at the guys that A&M has generated the most momentum with in the two weeks since Fisher's arrival.

Based on what I'm hearing, I love the Ags' chances at keeping Episcopal WR Jaylen Waddle in state and outlasting Bama and winning a key head-to-head with the MerMan and Texas for Joseph Ossai. I like A&M as a slight favorite to close out both Terrace Marshall and Vernon Jackson. The same can be said with Jeremiah Martin in a key head-to-head against Oklahoma. As far as momentum trending upward, you can put Luke Ford (this dude is a Gronk clone who has included A&M in his top five before even giving College Station a look based on the Aggie depth chart and longtime recruiter Tim Brewster) and perhaps even Brey Walker on the list. Prior to this weekend, the Aggies had knocked it out of the park with JUCO tight end Dominick Wood-Anderson but the nation's top-ranked player at the position was at Tennessee this weekend so we're in the process of following up where things stand after the trip to Knoxville.

I would love to see us close the deal on even half of those guys.

The days of allowing Alabama, LSU, and OU out recruit us in Texas need to be over.

247Recruiting Perroni "Terrace Marshall"

quote:

The battle for the nation's No. 1 wide receiver prospect will come down to an announcement on Dec. 22. For months, LSU, Texas A&M, Texas and Florida State have been the four college programs to keep an eye on, but as decision day inches closer, it appears the Tigers and Aggies have separated themselves from the pack. On Friday, both Texas A&M and LSU spent the day in Bossier City recruiting five-star Terrace Marshall and his family. New Aggies head coach Jimbo Fisher was in attendance for Texas A&M, while area recruiter Steve Ensminger and wide receivers coach Mickey Joseph made the trip for LSU. "Friday was cool, everybody stopped by," said Terrace Marshall Sr. "Jimbo stopped by. He came by the barber shop and everything. Then Coach E and them stopped by the barber shop. We all chopped it up for a while and things like that. It was a nice visit."

With his decision day drawing near, Marshall is adjusting to one final shift in his recruitment process, with the coaching staff of one team - FSU - making the transition to becoming the coaching staff at Texas A&M, another school in his top group. "It was kind of weird," Marshall Sr. said. "It happened so fast. Like Jimbo said to us, it’s a business. He was saying how the decision he made was a business decision, just like the one Terrace will have to make. Jimbo’s pitch is that he wants (Terrace) bad. Jimbo told him that he recruited Julio Jones and he thought he was better than Julio. Texas A&M has talked a lot about immediate playing time. If he comes in and works he can be in a starting role. But that said, LSU has been saying the same thing. As a freshman, they are telling us he can come right in and fill shoes and be a difference maker at LSU."

"I know it is getting tougher since the decision date is getting closer. That's just how it goes. I thought it would be downhill from here, but it’s been tougher than I anticipated for him."

While the new-look Texas A&M staff has made their pitch, Marshall said LSU head coach Ed Orgeron and his staff have made a similar one throughout his recruiting process. And given the family's longstanding ties to Ensminger, the Tigers' push has been consistent from the start. "Coach E said he really hopes that (Terrace) jumps on board," Marshall Sr. said. "He really wants him to be a Tiger. He’s really poured his heart out recruiting him. He’s just hoping the day will come Friday and he’s a Tiger." When weighing options out in the final week, the surge from both LSU and Texas A&M is evident. "Both of them are good schools," he said. "You look at Texas A&M, and they will throw it around. You look at LSU, and they have been throwing the ball more. It makes you think. Really, it’s a chance you take either way. You want to make sure you can get in there and showcase your ability in the time he’s got in college. That's one thing he's always looked hard at."

While the dead period kicks in on Monday, meaning no more face-to-face contact with recruits are allowed, Marshall Sr. is confident the phone won't stop ringing - with most of the calls coming from Baton Rouge and College Station. "Coach O and them are going to call each day," he said. "Coach O calls every day, anyways. And now Texas A&M has started calling us up every day. I know (Terrace) is ready to make a decision and get to college." Marshall will announce his college decision on Friday at Parkway High in Bossier City. He will then sign with a school and enroll in college for January.

Agree, to much ground to make up imo, if he was to wait till NSD 2 I'd be more confident.
