I'm not going to lie, I go back and forth.

I hate y'all for having basically the same color maroon, yet somehow it forms affection. Has me all twisted up inside.

State has decent playmakers, but they also had a lot of seniors who contributed a lot last year and now that theyre gone, theyre just a ghost of their former selves. This matchup wont be easy though and we still have to get better on defense to have a shot here

Not to be a quarrelsome dick, but we don't need to get any better at all to "have a shot here." They aren't a fantastic team.

Honestly, Arkansas was a bad match up for us. They have a huge OL that's allowed to hold a ton, very good RBs, and then a QB who's sporadically great (and he decided to play exceptionally well against us), meaning we needed to rush the passer hard (which left us vulnerable to the run).

I think Garrett and Hall will get back to their high-pressure on Saturday, and when those guys are on, they ruin offenses by themselves.

Relationship status: It's Complicated?

Honestly I'd kinda understand some resentment from Grinders. Y'all were basically the A&M of the SEC and then we come along and are basically the bigger/much more obnoxious (save for the cowbell department ) version of y'all.

But then you have the coaching connection and the school colors thing....I can't hate y'all, either

they shouldn't be too upset, w/Auburn imploding right now they are still the number 2 farm school in the SEC.

It was irritating watch Brandon Allen scramble around for positive yardage last week. Our linebackers need to come up and make the tackle on Dak Prescott. Actually our linebackers need to make more tackles period.

There are injuries at this position, of course. I'm guessing Washington and Hilliard will start. No idea who the other one will be.

I tell you one thing. We are fortunate Riley Garner was able to return to the football field after his head injury. He's playing alot more snaps than I thought he would.

I'm not sure who would be out there if he couldn't go. Garner and Duane Thomas were both in at LB in the 2nd half of Arkansas. Is Jake Blount our last option if one of those two can't go?

Fun fact, from 1878 to 1932 we were Mississippi A&M.

Yezzir

There were quite a few "A&M" across the nation. A lot of 'em did what y'all did and became "State."

Ironically, Texas State University was never an "A&M." "TSU" wasn't their original name, though.

I still think they should have changed their name to the fighting armadillos when they changed to TSU.

i said this the other day on tRant, but i'll repeat it.

My wife's 101 yo grandmother passed away in July. At Labor Day we went over to her house to start cleaning out for an estate sale.

My FiL is an animal husbandry grad from MSU and played basketball there in the 60s

When I was going through a closet I found a bunch of forms and binders that had my FiL's data from school work at state and he had a bunch of correspondence with Aggie professors that they did together since they were both land grant colleges back then. He had come to CS in the summer and worked a few weeks with their Ag department. TAMU and MSU have been working together for a long time. That, Jackie Sherrill, and the fact that we both deal with uppity schools in our states always makes it heard to hate on MSU.

nothing but love for state.

Sounds like we need to keep this rivalry a friendly one.

Yep, MSU has a lot of good Ag programs and I deal with several grads on a daily basis. Oklahoma state is another school that also has a good Ag program that A&M does a lot of cross research with, especially turf grasses.

Still don't really root for them even outside of our games, but I definitely don't root for them to lose (unless it would help the Ags make a big game or something).

Respect state although Dan Mullen has the second most punchable face in the SEC IMO (Bert is #1)

Mississippi State QB Dak Prescott vs. A&M's secondary. Prescott has thrown 191 straight passes without an interception, a school record and the longest current streak in the nation. He hasn't thrown an interception in 17 quarters and has 1,069 yards passing with seven touchdowns this season. The Aggies have three interceptions and are allowing just 187.8 yards passing a game.

Sounds like we're due to pick off Dak.

My grandfather on my dad's side went to MSU, my grandmother on my mom's side (she was before her time) went to Oklahoma A&M/OSU, dad went to LSU&A&MC (their real name to this day), and I went to TAMU, so I'm Ag School to the core!
