Ok, I know y'all hate Texas a lot, but Texas didn't almost lose to Rice. Cmon man

They are too late on that one. Luck is on the path to run the entire NCAA.

Rice turned the ball over 4 times

Rice outgained UTx 462 to 277 yards, had 30 first downs to 11 for UTx, and held the ball for 44 minutes DESPITE losing the turnover battle 5 to 1. Rice also converted 67% on 3rd down, vs. 38% for UTx. UTx only had one sustained drive the entire game.
Turnovers are obviously a part of the game, but if Rice doesn't make those mistakes, they win. And a team that has to rely on Rice making mistakes to produce a win is a team with serious problems.

Maybe. I would definitely go more along the lines of saying Texas struggled with Rice, and that they probably suck. But they didn't almost lose. Texas won the turnover battle, and had two really long punt returns so their yards were going to be fewer than they normally would be.

The numbers say otherwise:

This could be said about Eric Hyman as well.

In UT's case it was that the university president, Powers, overruled the search committee (which said "hire Oliver Luck") and hired his buddy's buddy, Patterson. It was a bro-hire.

In the case of A&M, we're ruled by the Dictatorship of Chancellor Sharp, so that's like asking why Nikita Khrushchev appointed so-and-so as Agricultural Minister. I assume our Glorious Leader had some ill-informed personal affinity for Hyman.

Thank god. Sharp isn't the greatest leader ever, but he is one of us dammit and he gets what is important to us.

Infinitely increasing the number of students and watering-down the quality of our degrees is important to us?

No, but beating our chest about "having the biggest stadium in Texas" or being the "biggest school in Texas" is important to many Aggies.
As I said, not a perfect leader. But he gets our misplaced priorities and WHY they are misplaced.

Block out the turnovers and the final score

Does not bode well for Strong IMO.
Agree. Now if they only win 3 games I don't think he survives. Not sure he survives with 4-5 wins if some of them are bad losses. Anyone that thinks there is no way Strong could possibly be fired after 2 years is woefully mistaken. It can definitely happen.

I get what you're saying, but it's ridiculous to just ignore those things, just like its ridiculous to ignore special teams. Texas was up 42-14 in the fourth quarter. Saying Rice came close to winning is just ridiculous. Every football fan should know you can't just look at stats and expect them to always tell the full story.
Can you say Texas was outplayed by rice, sure. I just don't think you can say Texas almost lost.
