Did anyone (coaches, players, reporters) address whether or not he was actually suspended?

It seems reasonable to assume he was, but I don't remember anyone directly commenting on it.

Implies he was suspended but has done everything necessary to be able to play against USCe

Thanks for the link.

Maybe I'm being a selfish fan, but I feel that Sumlin and Spav owe the fanbase a little clearer explanation. Saturday night was a colossal F-up and it's sad that no one on our $10 million coaching staff feels accountable to give honest answers.

And I don't expect them to tell us exactly what happened on the sideline. Just a simple "yes, he was suspended last week" or "no, he wasn't suspended"

I'm guessing the people who write those million dollar checks get better answers than we do ;)

not suspended, grounded. Suspended players don't practice or travel. It really isn't as big of a deal as everyone is making it out to be.

And you honestly don't need to know this. There are 105 guys on the team and each is 18-22. Not surprisingly some step out of line now and then. But from day one, Sumlin has not embarrassed them by publicly talking about it and that's not going to change.

Everyone that cares already knows that Kyler bitched at Spav. How would it embarrass Kyler for Sumlin to offer a clear statement on his availability for OM?

That is the truth. Fanbases have gotten so entitled about access in the digital age. I am just as bad as anyone.

This seems to be venturing into the "shut up, buy your season tickets, show up to the games, and root on the team" territory.

Can't there be a middle ground?

Definitely. I just think we are nowhere close to that with the way the media allows Sumlin to operate.

I kind of like it being a mystery at the time but finding out years later in some big info drop. It's more fun that way.

Like how after he was fired we discovered via his own players' TexAgs confessions that Fran used really weird manipulation strategies and motivational techniques and treated all but a few people horribly/quasi-abusively and maintained a crummy little toadie who followed him around everywhere just to be his "biographer".

I'm sure the background on the total meltdown at Ole Miss is pretty juicy and we'll find out in a few years.

Uh, because these are people. And Kyler is a pretty private dude and I really doubt he wants anything said publicly that will be aired on SECN or ESPN over and over and turned into a segment by Finebaum.
