Damn, I hate to see anybody lose their life building a stadium. I'll keep his family in my prayers.

Really sorry to hear that. Not sure if I'm just noticing or if stadium construction is a lot more dangerous than I thought. It seems like this has happened a lot lately (us, now Baylor, and 2-3 incidents in Brazil while building new stadiums for the world cup)

It's not just stadiums. It's the rushed schedule and people pushing to not get behind. Now that they are behind mistly due to weather they will push harder to go faster and as long as humans are involved accidents are gonna happen. I know that statement pisses people off but it's the truth.
Thoughts and prayers to the mans family.

It looks incredible, but all I think about when I see it is I hope we don't coddle our players too much.

Does this mean our players will have to go outside to smoke now?

Videos like this tick me off.
A&M is big enough that it should be able to afford the money needed to hire professionals and/or teach students how to do things like properly white balance when they shoot.
The interview on the field are all blown out with major hot video. They also need to turn up his mic volume and lower the nat sound b/c you can barely hear the guy. It almost seems like they forgot to turn the mic on and got the sound through the cameras shotgun mic for the first half of his interview.
Then on the inside shots you can see there is shite all over the camera lens and they again did an arse job of w/the camera setting b/c everything is too dark.
Whats worse is a lot of that probably could have been fixed in post with a few simple editing tools.
This shite is 101 level stuff and A&M's video people constantly screw it up.

I agree with you but that vid in particular was probably done solely for that donor. Doesn't mean they can't do it right though. I hope since $10m is being spent for our on-campus SECN production studio, it means they are going to start taking this stuff more seriously. But it is concerning that they don't seem to even have any in-house talent yet.
Beyond the filming issues, the directorial stuff is awful. The target audience doesn't care as much what it looks like from 2nd base. They really should have had shots from the student section or the berm. I didn't get a feel at all for how it will be because everything has been from the field.
Even the pictures we've released have been right under it. Is it really that hard to release a before and after photo taken from section 202? IMO we do a particularly poor job selling our smaller sports. We put out vids, which is better than nothing, but the quality is pretty much crap. Just a little production would go a long way.

THIS
Like I said before, a lot of the issues with that last video are easily correctable with a number of editing systems. I think even iMovie has those abilities. When basic stuff like that doesn't ever get fixed it comes of like they simply dont give a shite.
I just don't get how the production quality from 12th Man TV and other A&M sports related media is so consistently awful when they have been doing it for as long as they have now.
Its not even just the short internet videos that have these issues either. Since Will Johnson first started doing those updates on the scoreboard we constantly get things like the audio being over modulated or not giving proper head room in shots (head either cut off in frame or worse there is like 3 feet of it).
As somebody who used to shoot/produce for a TV news station and now works in film it drives me friggin nuts.
