I get my initial opinion on hires by how the fans of the team that lost the coach react.
The first comment I saw from a Notre Dame fan about losing Elko was, "F*** me."
Great hire for Aggies.

When do we expect Elko to arrive in CS? And what kind of a window is reasonable to expect for a defensive staff?

Luicci has said soon. I guess the dead period ends Jan 12 and that's the deadline to have things ready to go so you hit the road with a full staff.

Looking like
DC/DB - Elko
DE/DL - Price
LB - Clark Lea (from Wake and ND w/ Elko)

It remains to be seen if we will have a second DL coach or a second DB coach. We also apparently have to fill a slot for a ST coach because Banks is gonna leave.

Or just give Brewster STs.

There are a lot on the ND side who seem to think Lea is ready to take over as DC. IDK if that's a given. He's very highly regarded from what I gather.

That would leave 2 open slots. A Thomas still available?

I would guess another DB coach (Eklo to handle S) and probably another DL coach (Price to handle DE).

Love that there are options. I feel very strongly about this staff. Seems like we have a talented bunch. Haven’t been this excited about a season since 2013.

Ditto. Potential beginning of something great over the next few years.

Ehhh... I’m excited for the future, but not next season. Next season is an extremely difficult schedule, a transition to a totally different offensive scheme that we didn’t recruit for, and we have shite for defensive talent. We need to be patient and give it a few years.

Yeah I’ll be elated to watch a spring game that doesn’t feature an air raid (Klifford) a identityless variation on the spread (Boy Wonder) or the No-End-Zone Mazzone $29.99 Internet Special RPO offense.

Damn right!

Give me that $29.99 Jimbo O&D philosophy instead .
