We are recruiting at a higher level than we ever have. After a second year with our current recruiting, we should be able to close the gap on a lot of our talent deficiencies. If we have better blocking and better skill positions on offense, we don’t have half the problems we currently have. It is astounding how much our defense has improved. But our depth chart was gutted on offense and it shows.

In 100% agreement. It is amazing how just a couple of very good offensive lineman would change the dynamics of this team.

I really think we are just a couple of players from having a very good football team. Unfortunately the couple of players we are missing are at the absolute worst positions in the SEC.

If we can’t establish the run, our offense isn’t going to work. Period. We don’t have the o line for it and I’m not particularly impressed with our running back. The freshman will be a good one but he should not be starting this year.

I hate the “establish the run” BS. A good run game is great, but if it’s not working or the guys aren’t in place then you adjust. Throw more short passes. Get guys involved in other ways. Mond is good enough to air it out 30-40 times if we have to.

He is. But Jimbo isn’t going to do that. He never has. In our offense, th run game sets up the pass.

Jimbo was like that long before he came here. It was a common FSU complaint.

You realize you're talking to Aggies, right?

Agreed, though.

How do you watch that game and assign the blame on only Mond? It was play calling & OL play more than Mond. We were stupid and tried to force something that wasn’t working.

Yup, gotta have a changeup on O when plan A isn't working. We're not talented enough to impose our will on every opponent.

Mond can HURT people with his feet. He doesn’t have to run often, but he and Jimbo have to make people respect it.

Last season Mond ran more and obviously was more effective. I'm curious if this off season Jimbo worked with him to stay in the pocket more, work on his progressions before running. The problem is we don't have the OL.

Bottom line is we are absolutely no closer to competing with bama than we were any other year without Johnny and Mike Evans

It’s interesting that you used “perspective” because that’s what I think our fan base is the most angry about. Had we lost to both Clemson and Auburn in close, competitive games you probably wouldn’t have nearly as many disgruntled fans. We knew this was still a rebuilding year and our schedule was extremely difficult. But we’ve been thoroughly outclassed by the two teams with a pulse that we’ve faced this year.

The perception is we aren’t very good and can’t compete with good teams. That was something jimbo was supposed to fix. We didn’t think we’d be going 10+ wins in his first or second seasons, but we did expect closer games and no blowouts. We thankfully haven’t had any 59-0 or 34 point comebacks, but we’ve looked flat out outclassed and unprepared this season, which is not a good look, especially when people expected us to be good and pre ranked us in the top 15 (which I wholeheartedly disagreed with and knew we weren’t deserving of that).
