Have you really looked to see who we're returning next year? It's basically everybody.

Prater is the only guy on offense that we're losing.

We lose nobody that has really played this year on defense, with the highly probable exception of Madubuike, who will probably declare early. We might lose Buddy Johnson. That's it. Everyone else is returning.

Add Baylor and Corbin and Demas and a year of development, and we really might be seriously good next year.

I'm not saying, "wait until next year," because I want to enjoy the rest of this year - but I am excited about 2020.

Edit: Not to mention the crazy number of true freshmen who start or play a lot: Wydermyer, Green, Smith, White, Leal, Richardson, Spiller - all TRUE freshmen.

Clemons is listed as a junior and DeMarvin Leal has taken that starting spot at SDE.

If Madubuike doesn't declare, we only lose 2 total starters (Prater and Mann). Returning starters would be:

QB - Mond
HB - Spiller
WR - Ausbon
WR - Smith
WR - Davis
TE - Wydermyer
OL - Moore
OL - Hocker
OL - K. Green
OL - C. Green

DL - Johnson
DL - Brown
DL - Madubuike
DL - Leal
LB - Johnson
LB - Hines
NB - Morris
CB - Jones
CB - Blades
FS - Carper
SS - Richardson
K - Small

I've been saying since last season that 2020 was going to be the first time we really see what we have in Fisher. The schedule gets easier for what we'll assume to be a battle-hardened upperclassmen personnel group.

I thought Clemons was a senior. My bad. And I think it's a high, high chance that Madubuike declares. I am going to assume so, until he doesn't. Wouldn't surprise me if Buddy declares.

And on top of all that, we replace Clemson and Georgia with Colorado and Vanderbilt. I am expecting 10+ wins next year and I don't think that's the least bit unrealistic.

And the schedule is backloaded, and Jimbo's teams seem to improve as the year goes on. If we can beat Auburn and USCe on the road, we'll be 10-0 going into our last two games against Bama and LSU.

I assume you mean 10-0. We only play 12 regular season games.

Pretty much everyone agreed and realized this was the case long before the season started, and then went straight to the cliffs as soon as the season started

I admit we haven't played as well as I thought, but I feel like there's been some pretty severe over reacting.

2020 has been the year a lot of people have circled, between experience and a far easy schedule 9 wins is pretty much my bottom line expectation.

Jimbo will have had plenty of time to coach and develop sumlin’s players he inherited, plus have multiple recruiting classes that are his own, so we should start to see some culture change and on field results.

Aggies gonna Aggy, I guess

I felt like the fanbase was mostly on the same page coming into this year with tempered expectations, then after the Auburn game I look online and everyone's acting a plumb fool

then after the Auburn game

Auburn was supposed to be a win. That's why everyone was (and still is) upset. Not only that but, had the team played like they gave a shite in quarters 1-3, A&M wins by 1-2 touchdowns.

Agreed with the above, we thought that auburn was a fairly winnable game (I still think that, their offense ain’t very good with Nix), and then we proceeded to barely scrape by the two worst sec west teams.

I think the narrow wins have caused the most anger actually. It’s fine if you lose to a ranked team, but everybody else has beaten up on arky and ole miss by multiple scores, so it looked bad when we beat them by 4 and 7 respectively. Just didn’t give confidence in the program.

Agreed, but I still think it was a slight overreaction. It's not like Auburn was some scrub team.

Excuse me, barely scrape by the 5 and 7th place sec west teams.

Miss state is the first game we’ve won by more than a touchdown against a power 5 team, and they’re 6th in the west.

It's nice to have a coach who knows how to help his team keep improving from game to game.

Jimbo's offenses are very complex, and they require multiple players making reads. When the kids don't quite have it yet, it can look ugly. But as they began to get it, the offense becomes really good. Contrast that with simple spread offenses like we ran with Sumlin. They can light up scoreboards when they are loaded with talent, or when they are squaring off against weak competition. However, many times teams that run those offenses look like world-beaters early, but then fade as the year progresses.

When your $75m HC is supposed to be an offensive guru and the offense looks like total shite for 3 and a half quarters but it's not due to much of anything the opposing team is doing it's not an overreaction. Same thing for the Clemson game. It wasn't like their defenses were dominating. The offense was just plain bad. I don't care if the offense is complicated. If you have guys who can't do the more complicated stuff you do the things your guys are comfortable doing.

I'm also not a fan of this "next year when the schedule is easier" talk. Holy hell, if we need an easier schedule to compete we may as well go back to the Big 12.
