If you want to see some MASSIVE fricking dorks, head over to the Texags military board. People are LOSING THEIR MINDS over the corps wearing sweatshirts to the game today.

As they should. We all wore full fricking uniforms to the 1997 t.u. game in which the game was played in basically a typhoon.
I saw some highlights and them wearing corps sweats and ACU pants looks terrible.
Football games are considered full pass and review events. For an organization whose leadership constantly tries to compare themselves to the academies you would NEVER see that happen at West Point, Annapolis or Colorado Springs. In fact, you wouldn't see that 20 years ago when I was a cadet there either.

But we aren’t the service academies. The corps is an upscale ROTC, and I don’t mean that in an ugly way.
It’s just not the sane thing, and nobody but a few former members of the corps cares at all.

It looks horrible and lazy. Worse than seeing the dependapotomos dates many CTs bring.

It did look like shite. I asked the people around me when have the kiddies ever were that shite and everyone said they never have.

It looks like a bunch of cold college students
I will say the winter attire the cadets wear every December for Army/Navy look warm and comfortable as can be

If they aren't going to wear their uniforms I say it's time to break up the corps block! If they don't care why should we?
Posted on 11/11/18 at 1:57 am to Dr RC
I think we should break up the Corps Block anyway but I was never for it when it first started in 1996.

Almost no one in the Corps was! It was all the commandant’s doing.

I was getting texts from people from other schools I went through training with asking me why the Corps looked like dogshit. Also it was the first time in some of my groups that we had like 98/100 former Corps members pissed off at the same thing. Even the ones who usually don't get worked up about the Corps not being how it was back in their day.
It was.....it was bad. I was genuinely embarrassed irl Even AGGIEBELLE, who doesn't give a rat's arse about the current Corps or football games in general looked at me in horror when I described the "uniform" of the day

I actually have a Twitter spat going on with Looch. Evidently, I am completely wrong about bans and petulance.

A TexAgs reporter asked the question in a presser a week ago. I do completely disagree with a change being needed but don't spew the bullshite narrative that you'll be banned for the opinion. But thanks for frequenting the site, of course

I still don't get the big deal. I thought they looked fine.
My real gripe is with the piped in music during the game. I don't mind music at the stadium, but they just need to figure out the appropriate times to play it. It felt like they played it almost every other down. Absolutely no rhythm or structure to when they played the music (at times even playing over the band).
And Roger Creager's The Road Goes On Forever after the game??? You shittin' me!?!? The DJ definitely overshadowed the yell leaders and the band. I hope our Gameday officials ease up on it next year and allow for more yells or even more veteran/student/old Ag stories (which is a whole other rant...we definitely didn't do as much to honor our veterans this weekend as we have in past years)

No, it was Malon Sutherland's doing. Lt. Gen Darling refused to do it every time Sutherland asked him. After he departed following the 1995-1996 school year, MajGen Hopgood was more than happy to fall in line during his first year.

Ask him how he can consider himself on par with people with real Engineering degrees when he had a major that didn't require math, physics or engineering.

We looked like straight trash by any academy or SMC standards. Basically wore PT gear to a nationally televised game on Veteran's Day weekend. Bad bull.

I don't envy the gameday planners lot of moving parts between yells/music/band/etc. Just wish they'd err on the side of more yells/band.
I like the "if you're gonna play in Texas" sing along tho.

I figured I had to know a few people on this board, but you're the first I've confirmed. Hope you are doing well!
