I don't like it. Part of me says the stadium will be empty. But the other part says it may be full of Ags welcoming Jimbo.

Does anyone have a reason why this happened? Did A&M push for this?

Looking at the SEC schedule opening week there is a chance we could have ended up with an 11am game in early September or an SECN+ game.

P5 v P5
Alabama vs. Louisville (Orlando)
Auburn vs. Washington (Atlanta)
LSU vs. Miami (Arlington)
Tennessee vs. West Virginia (Charlotte)
Ole Miss vs. Texas Tech (Houston)

P5 v G5
Central Michigan at Kentucky
Middle Tennessee at Vanderbilt
Coastal Carolina at South Carolina

P5 v FCS
Northwestern State at Texas A&M
Eastern Illinois at Arkansas
Charleston Southern at Florida
Austin Peay at Georgia
Stephen F. Austin at Mississippi State
UT Martin at Missouri

Now we are locked in for a late August night game and will get 2 extra days to prepare for Clemson.

Why does like to cry about their schedule every year? It's become a tradition at this point.

If Texas A&M wants to play football on Thanksgiving in future years, it appears as if the Aggies will have to find a new Week 13 opponent.

Last week at SEC spring meetings, LSU athletic director Joe Alleva said the Tigers have no intention of playing their regular-season finale against A&M on the holiday.

The reasoning is pretty simple. Alleva said Thanksgiving is a day to hang out with the family.

"We're not playing on Thanksgiving," Alleva said.

Since the two teams became each other's Week 13 opponent starting in 2014, the game has been played on Thursday when A&M hosted at Kyle Field. In 2016, the Houston Chronicle reported the arrangement would no longer work because ESPN needed an annual series on Thanksgiving. The network settled on the Egg Bowl, the in-state rivalry between Mississippi and Mississippi State (which is one of the most heated contests in college football right now).

An annual game on Thanksgiving between A&M and Texas was once one of the state's long-standing traditions. Based on records from both schools, it appears the Aggies and Longhorns played each other annually on the holiday from 1932 to 1972.

But since 1975, the tradition waned. A&M and Texas only played on Thanksgiving 16 times. The last four meetings between the state's biggest universities were played on the holiday until 2011, A&M's final season in the Big 12.

Since joining the SEC, A&M has been searching for a true rival.

First the Aggies played Missouri, which left the Big 12 at the same time. The last four years, A&M has squared off against LSU. One could argue LSU also lacked a true rival over the decades.

When A&M and Texas played each other annually, the Thanksgiving affair made a little more sense. The distance between College Station and Austin is a little more than two hours, which gives fans from both sides plenty of time to make the nightly kickoff annually.

It makes a lot less sense now, especially now that the historic matchup is on hiatus.

It's unclear if A&M even wants to play on Thanksgiving anymore (if the Aggies didn't, nobody is going to blame them). But for now, it appears that A&M tradition won't continue against LSU.

I don’t really care honestly. I am perfectly okay with it being on Saturday

I wouldn't be surprised if our admin doesn't truly care about playing on TDay. The stadium hasn't been full for a single one of those games (same goes for the sips w/their games).

The only reason we demanded it in the first place was to stick it to the people down in Austin just as they only demanded they always play at home on that day as a middle finger to us. What's funny is we are probably the only two schools that can create a true sellout for each other on those days. It's simply not going to happen for anyone else b/c their fans are not going to make that trip. It flat out doesn't mean enough to them.

There are very few rivalries nationwide where opposing fanbases hate each other enough and more importantly are close enough that could play on that day and have a full house. We just happen to be one of the few.

Would rather it be on Saturday, we gave the finger to the sips and swamp kittens by having it on Thxgiving for long enough.
