We will pay significantly more for our OC hire than Sanders does for his. Kind of a smart move on his part given the teams looking for P5 OC's and their budget

Creativity? Ehh... That's just life in the MAC. Dan Enos left Central Michigan to be the Arkansas OC a few years ago in a similar way.

I think it's undeniably an atypical approach to hiring a coordinator at the P5 level. Not saying we need to specifically look at the MAC, or that hiring a sitting coach from a lower level is unheard of or superior, but that every option should be available to Jimbo, giving him zero excuses for not getting a good one.

At this point I feel like we have to assume it’s somebody that still has something to play for either in the playoff or the NFL. It would be pretty disappointing to not have it already wrapped up w/the OC out recruiting if it’s just a matter of money whipping a guy who is coaching for a team in a mid to low tier bowl.

The most immediate concern at OC is 2024 superstar QB DJ Lagway is scheduled to commit tomorrow . It's a very long time until he can sign anything, but you really want/need to be the first school he chooses. It goes without saying that you would want to have your OC and a clear vision for the offense in place by then, but it appears we're going to fail in that respect.

Otherwise, I don't expect Jimbo to self impose a deadline on himself and so wouldn't narrow the potential hires this quickly. I'm willing to bet Jimbo is still supremely confident he can continue to juggle 80 different things on his own and it will all work out.

Liucci thinks it is this week. And Lagway absolutely changes his mind if we get a great OC. That is a big IF

I might be way off, but I think that tweet is not based on any actual information and is literally just praying for an announcement

You are likely correct.

It could be a challenge to land one of the stronger OC candidates like Riley or Mullen until the HC carousel slows down and they have less options. Could see either one of those guys being in the mix for the Purdue job.

Jim Leonhard announced that he was leaving Wisconsin after the bowl game.

Unlikely we get him but I just wanted to share this little tid-bit with y'all

Texas A&M social media presence is stoked today - and Owens just de-committed from Louisville. You have to think he knows who the new OC is.

The OC hire will leak by Friday at the latest. Jimbo interviewed him Monday.

I think it's Riley. Everything lines up to be Riley...

Really hope it isn't Grimes

I've been going back and forth with others on this. They don't think Riley will stick up to Jimbo.

I know people mentioning it are just joking but lol at the meltdown if it’s James Coley.
