Lets be honest, you and a lot of the fanbase werent going to be happy no matter who he hired, unless it was Riley from TCU. We dont know who all he talked to and said no, it is what it is at this point.

Nope. I said I'd be very happy w/Grimes. There are plenty of guys I'd have been good with. A dirtbag like Bobby Petrino was never going to be that guy though.

We also 100% know Jimbo got rejected by the Washington OC Ryan Grubb (per Liucci) and it's extremely likely we were also rejected by Riley and the Michigan co-oc Sherrone Moore.

Oh and there's this

Again, logically speaking this tweet by Billy Liucci means that we had to have been rejected by several other OCs as Petrino was "merely a candidate" before he was hired by UNLV.

You can try and pretty this up all you want it's clear as day Jimbo struck out hard trying to find somebody if he had to turn around and pull Petrino away from UNLV just a month after he joined their staff.

They way I look at it, it would be hard statistically for our offense to get any worse, so it's all uphill from here right? Does sound like Jimbo wont be calling plays so that's gotta be worth something to be happy about.

It would be hard but it's possible. My biggest issue is that we just had a season torpedoed by character issues in the locker room and we just hired a guy that can fill Reed Arena w/his character issues.

And this is complete bullshite, everyone knew that Jimbo wanted Petrino, and then he was high on his list. It was Fanbase reaction to the rumors that made the administration ask Jimbo to consider other choices before making a final decision.

Whatever makes you feel better about this shite sandwich my dude.

He was never the top choice and he never would have taken the UNLV job if he thought he'd be A&M's OC.

I'm ok with it. Bobby Petrino has had good offenses and had everyone's number in the SEC (except for Saban, but I still expect Jimbo to have a heavy hand preparing for Alabama). All in all, I'm happy. His offenses have been historically good. If Jimbo wants to have his own version of Nick Saban's Coaching Rehabilitation Program, then so be it.

IDGAF what a complete moron like Barry Switzer says about anyone's offense. That decrepit old fart doesn't know shite about modern CFB.

You don't get banished to places like Missouri State and UNLV if your offenses are still historically good.

This is very similar to when Sumlin hired Chavis. He struck out on his main targets and hired the first "name" that was willing to board a sinking ship. Is he a name that has had success in the past? Yes. Is he anywhere near being that guy anymore? Not likely.

I don’t understand the point of freaking out over this. He’s here, it’s done. I choose to go in to it with an open mind, if he fails then that’s probably it for Jimbo, hopefully he does well and we can call it a great hire.
The point of this OC search was to get the playbook out of Jimbos hands and that’s what has happened. Now we sit back and watch

We are complaining about Jimbo's outdated offense, yet you would have been happy with an offense straight out of the 70s and 80s?

BL said we were rejected by 2. Grubb & Riley.

Here is my take:
Jimbo drug his feet and Bobby took what was available (UNLV). When Jimbo made a decision he got who he wanted based on what was available (Not Grubb or Riley). I think Jimbo is aware of how critical this hire is for him. He can't screw it up. He looked high and low and spoke with a ton of people. Not every name associated with the job was offered or even seriously considered.

I am not a Petrino fan. I don't think this is the best we could do. However, I fully expect the offense to take a step forward as well as challenges, time outs, etc. Even with the portal, we have the talent to win at a high level. Does it ultimately work out (occasional playoffs, NYD consistently)? I would guess no. I think we're safe from more 5-7 shitstorms.

Look at the positive - if he fails then Fisher follows him swiftly out the door. If Fisher were to leave Petrino alone and not meddle, it could very well work out. The man can call an offense.

Do I think that happens? No. Fisher has assembled so many volatile personalities that I expect it to all go up in flames

I’m actually not worried about the personality blend. I think Jimbo is a good HC, I think he can manage his staff well (or at least we’re fixing to put that belief to the test) I think now that he has taken a bit off his plate he can focus on other areas of the HC role

One thing is certain - might as well embrace the hatred because this seems to be the common thought now. Taken from a tweet

quote:

Texas A&M's new leadership group: HC Jimbo Fisher DC DJ Durkin OC Bobby Petrino

In the history of college football has there ever been a scummier, less likeable group of people at the head of a program?

We have DJ Durkin on the team. Whatever Petrino has done isn't as bad as what DJ Durkin was involved in.

That isn’t what was said. Grubb took our display of interest and leveraged it into big raise

Riley was never available no matter if we wanted to talk, it never even became a discussion

Our baseball coach? I don't think so. I don't remember having any strong opinions on who we hired for baseball.
