@TxWadingFool What is it you think we will miss? His inability to close the deal with talented recruits (LB is least talented room on the roster)? His inability to coach guys to fit the gaps and stop the run? Or his inability to develop guys into all conference or NFL draft picks?

I liked him and his fiery enthusiasm on The Pulse shows, but he seems to have completely failed in every objective measure of being a competent LB coach for A&M.

Both can certainly be right.

I have no clue how it will turn out, Santucci may suck or he may turn out alright, but good coaches make bad hires all the time. Jimbo had one of the best offenses in the nation a decade ago at FSU and that didn't stop him from having a few duds on his staff.

Yep, average and even sub average coaches get hired away all the time. I doubt it’s anything more than simply Elko has familiarity with him and wants him for his staff and the raise is an upward move for Santucci.

Santiucci was worthless. Good riddance

Something doesn't add up in that move. Elko seems to be someone that knows his stuff but he is hiring a guy that most say is one of the weaker links on our staff? Both can't be right, guess we'll see how things go at Duke in the next couple of years. My bet is Elko is right.

Santucci was Elko's right hand man while at A&M and wants him with him at Duke.

Santucci officially hired at Duke.

Chris Partridge, former LB/DB coach under Durkin at Michigan and Ole Miss, likely to be his replacement on our defensive staff.

Partridge is an excellent recruiter. That news does not suck

It looks like Alabama is going after Washington OC Ryan Grubb. If that comes to pass, it would mean my two person wishlist for A&M OC both allegedly turned down Jimbo but went on to accept other jobs at Clemson and Alabama. That is not a good look for Jimbo or the school with a bottomless checkbook.

Eh, its not surprising that high demand guys would prefer going to a more stable program that also has lots of resources over our current sh*tshow. That's just good/smart business.

Our OC job always had tons of potential, but it's more a high risk/reward vs something more steady like what Bama, Clemson, and several other programs can currently offer.

I still maintain if the new person turns around the offense and has us top 25 in most categories and we win double digits the next few years, it's a springboard to really good opportunities and the OC can really make a name for themselves. However, theres a lot of work to be done and if the ship doesnt turn around fast enough, you're going down with the it and the rest of the staff.

Grubb turned down Saban, like he did Jimbo

Garrett Riley was never coming to the SEC. Him and his brother have shown that they will always pick the path of least resistance. The SEC would ruin Garrett's rising stock.

From an Aggie perspective --that IS good news that Grubb turned down Alabama.

First, for the optics, he didn't turn us down only to go to one of our rivals. Second, he will not be rebuilding the death star at Alabama in the wake of the BOB cancer damage.

Marquel Blackwell hired as running back coach, he was at Ol Miss last year. Has an impressive resume when you look at on-the-field results, OM led the SEC in rushing last year. I'm sure Lane will be crying again about this latest move which puts a big smile on my face.

With the new RB coach hire and Jimbo promoting Bryant Gross-Armiento to DB coach, I think we're done with coaching hires. Shame we're letting Addazio stick around, but we'll easily better with a more healthy and experienced OL next year.

I'm thrilled with half of the hires this offseason. The DB coach and the RB coach. Too bad Addazio seems to be staying ... and the same with Craig. I mean, does that guy do ANYTHING around here?

Yeah, one of the few things Sumlin did right was can Dave C after just one season. Saw it wasnt a good fit and cut bait. A couple of folks have brought up Henson, under his first year the line was pretty rough, but the second year was much improved and led to our 2020 season. Hopefully something similar happens....

Gotta think he's just here for recruiting. As much as the Rant loves to trash him and say he's a crappy dude, the guy pulls in lots of recruits so thats worth something I guess. I think they should make him director of recruting or some title like that, but I suspect he wants to be a position coach of some sort.

Overall Im ok with the new hires, nothing too flashy, but I dont think we made any outright terrible hires. Will see how it all translates to wins this fall.

Doesn't look like Craig should get too comfortable, looks like Jimbo went in hard for Louisville receivers coach Garrick McGee over the last months. Surely it was to replace Craig as a position coach, he could still stay on board as some kind of recruiting assistant I would suppose.

Apparently Jimbo has quietly hired an “offensive analyst” for his staff, Jim Chaney is coming aboard. He’s been all over including Arkansas, Georgia, Tennessee, and several more stops.

Interesting, seems like Jimbo really is trying to make the right decisions to get back on track. Once again, I still wish it hadn’t taken a disastrous season to make all these changes, but I digress…. Anyone have any thoughts?
