Best QB in the portal?

Who is the best QB in the portal that we could reasonably get? Being down to two, we don't really have much of a choice but to try to pick one up. Obviously a stud grad transfer trying to make one last push for an NFL bid won't be interested. Hell, I'd almost take Calzada back at this point.

I would think a HS kid is more likely to sign up as #3, but we need another arm or 2 for sure.

I don't think we are going to be in competition for any of the better QBs, with the top of our QB depth chart settled. It's really hard to see us landing anyone that people know about.
Would rather see us try to find a late bloomer from the HS ranks, if we can't flip any of our previous targets . Especially if we get Riley, the air raid offense has shown it can be very successful even with even the most unheralded QBs fresh out of high school.

The problem w/getting portal QBs is they’re almost always in the portal b/c they want to play right away. Not many guys are going to think they have a shot to start any time soon here.

Yep, all positions but QB especially aren’t entering the portal looking to sit behind someone. While we thought Max Johnson was transferring last year for depth, it’s become apparent it was more to fight for the starting job seeing how Haynes panned out.
We need QB depth so it would be nice to get someone out of the portal, but I doubt it’ll be anybody worth while because a decent guy isn’t coming here to sit behind Weigman and Johnson.

Agreed, I think the only way we get a QB in this transfer portal is a QB from FCS or from a low G5 conference.
I think our best shot is recruiting, but it wouldn't hurt to try and get someone
