Exactly, so he did that on grades and test scores. And then he still wanted to come to A&M for what A&M is.

He is a wonderful example of the best we can hope the 12th man can be.

Truly amazing, since no Ivy League schools give athletic scholarships!

So with E2 now having a female mascot corporal, any dead zips remember it being weird as hell introducing yourself to Reveille as a fish? (not being able to look at her or speak to her directly)

He’s also talked to the corps. My brother said he really appreciates that part of A&m and it was a really good experience. I think Jimbo is really fitting in here and embracing the culture.

Got my usual 2 weeks or premium for $2 special and was browsing the premium board yesterday and reminded why I don’t want to pay for it full time.

Thread was “looking back on sumlin’s tenure” and asking when posters knew he wasn’t the guy. The most starred response was something to the effect of: I was hoping up to the UCLA game he was still the guy.

Sad that so many people couldn’t see the obvious, and if you go against the group think there you either get comments deleted or banned.

Heh. You have no idea. My freshman year my younger sister visited me at A&M. The RV's were practicing outside my dorm window.
Sister: "Who are those guys?"
Me: "What guys?"
Sister: "The guys right outside your window!"
Me: "I don't see anybody."
Sister: "They're RIGHT THERE! ARE YOU BLIND?"
Me, perfectly seriously: "You don't understand. I can't see through windows."
Sister: "WHAT?" Tic, tic, tic, until it registered with her that I was... a little different. "OK, if you COULD see through windows, who would those guys be?"
Me: "No idea. They're invisible to me."

I honestly never ran across Miss Reveille my fish year, and I don't remember that rule. But it would absolutely not surprise me.

I had pretty much this exact conversation with my Mom on campus one day when I was a fish.

Dad was right there cracking the hell up She smacked him

Good for mom!

So much of that stuff is unexplainable, but seemed perfectly normal to us!

Dove season is about to kick off this Saturday along with CFB. Best time of the year IMO. I also deer and duck hunt most years but dove season is my favorite.

Anybody else getting out Saturday morning or afternoon? I’ll be somewhere in Burleson County trying to bag a few in the morning, then kicking back to watch as much college football in the afternoon as possible.

So I see Manu retired. Is there a more overrated player in NBA history?

He's never even averaged 20 ppg.
He's only a 2x All-Star.
He made zero all NBA first or second teams.

He pretty much just rode Timmy's coattails.

Sacrificed personal accomplishments for team success, what a novel concept in the me first reality we live in today. Here are a few stats for the numbers guys though,

"Of all of the players to ever play 300 or more games in the league, only seven have ever averaged 15 points, five rebounds, and five assists per 36 minutes while maintaining a true shooting percentage of 55 percent or better. And I know that’s a lot of data and a lot of qualifiers and so it’s easy to wash over it, but just know that the other names on the list with Manu are Oscar Robertson, Jerry West, Magic Johnson, Larry Bird, LeBron James, and James Harden, which means it’s very impressive.

Here’s a good one: Manu has the best plus-minus per 100 possessions of anyone who’s played at least 20,000 minutes since 2000. Literally the best of everyone these past 18 years. Or another: He’s one of only two players ever to win a European title, an NBA title, and an Olympic gold medal (Bill Bradley is the other). Or how about this: If you take all of the most successful duos that have ever played in the playoffs together and arranged them by number of wins, Manu has two of the top three spots. (He and Tony Parker have won 132 playoff games together. They’re first. He and Tim Duncan won 126. They’re third.) (For context: Michael Jordan and Scottie Pippen have 117.) It just goes on and on like that."

Your argument is European titles and playing on a good team his whole career?

I just wanted to see how far I could push it before I got banned from my own board.

He was a glorified role player that happened to be coached by an all-timer, play next to a very good PG, and play with a top 10 player of all time.
