Kicking a guy while he’s down... ouch. Welcome to basketball purgatory Tbird. Pretty bad when Dallas has a brighter future

I’m afraid that pod would look out of place next to Chapo Trap House and Pod Save America in my feed
Also: the Blazers could use Kawhi. CJ, Dame, legal weed, and geology without LA traffic

Why does Durant get the blame for a trend that's been around before he even stepped foot in the NBA?
Posted on 6/19/18 at 1:57 pm to Texas Weazel
When has a star player in his prime of Durant's level ever joined a back to back finals participant/one time winner that just had the most regular season wins in the NBA?
Even when the Heatles were formed it wasn't like what Durant did. The Heat were a mediocre East team that had just gotten their asses kicked in the first round and Bosh was the "leader" of a team that had missed the playoffs and only made them 2 out 7 years he was on the team.

I still don't get it. All these players went to teams that would improve their chances to win it all. That was the point of them making a move.
What's the difference from what Durant did to what LeBron did with the Heat or Garnett did with the Celtics?

Not a lot, but there are some.
KG was a trade (6 or 7 for 1... or something wild like that). The Celts were 24-58 in 2006-07. It was a big deal, but they totally reformed a very bad team.
LeBron caught a lot of heat for going to Miami
They were 47-35 team (5th seed in the east) so not nearly as bad, but it was a total rehaul with Bosh joining him and signing a bunch of vets.
KD, on the other hand, joined a team that was the champion 2 years prior and just set the single-season win record the year before. If GS was 100% healthy in the finals, I think they would have beat LeBron that year too. You already have an all-time great team. You take away their 4th or 5th best player and add an MVP winning player to the roster. That is unheard of.

hes the second best player in the world and joined the team with the most wins ever. thats an unprecedented move. Hes also an incredibly insecure tea sip that created a fake social media account to defend hisself cause he cant stand that hes not in the same conversation as lebron.

If we get another super friends team in LA (and not Houston) then I am not so sure I'll be watching many games until the postseason. We all knew last year the best teams were LeBron, Celtics, Rockets, and Warriors and that is exactly what we saw in the playoffs. We also knew that the WCF would > NBA Finals and that proved to be true too.

Much as I hate KD (and unlike the rest of the NBA, I hated him LONG before he left okc), I don't fault him for the move. If James can do it, no problem with Durant doing it. Yeah GSW was already a great team--that lost in the Finals and wanted to improve. KD wanted to win a title now.
Everyone focuses on KD, but really the Warriors pulled the master strike. They grew their team organically, then by signing KD, they not only super stacked an already nasty squad, but they prevented significantly weakened their chances of being challenged. Remember OKC came within a game of knocking off GSW, and KD could have chosen to stay there or go to SA or HOU. GSW nipped that in the bud.

Exactly. Which is the same thing LeBron and Garnett wanted. Was everyone really expecting him to join the Milwaukee fricking Bucks?! Dude wanted a title and Oakland offered a better path towards it than the former Seattle Supersonics.
He gets too much shite for moving teams, but in reality he took care of himself just like LeBron and Garnett did before him. Y'all motherfrickers just mad because Oakland became the Alabama of the NBA

Every athlete is a hired mercenary by rich owners who don't care about fans. The faster you accept this, the more you'll enjoy the NBA and appreciate the athleticism of each player.
I've enjoyed the NBA a lot more now that I don't have a horse in the race. Interestingly, I've also begun to hate LeBron more than ever. frick that idiot.
