He was a zip at the time, so I doubt it would have had any affect.

That's just bad, bad, bad. I genuinely disliked many stick-in-the-muds - mostly T-Bird's AF brethren - but that isn't something I'd ever wish on anybody.
We had a non-reg yell leader back in the dark ages. Not sure what year exactly, probably '77. I don't recall there being a "Corps block" set of designated candidates, but it's possible I just wasn't paying attention.

It was a bad situation overall. There was some serious bad blood between one of the senior yell leader candidates from the Corps Block and the Aggie Band...so much so that the BQ leadership flat out told Corps Block they would back a "dark horse" candidate to ensure that he didn't get elected.
I don't know what the background behind that was, but it was fairly significant.
That Dark Horse was Gary Kipe.

Yeah, the USAF types can be a royal PITA. No argument there
Maybe that's why wifey and I aren't doing 20 years. Too cool for school, I guess

Senior year, there was concern about butts parking on Lewis St. behind Duncan. As far as the school was concerned they were fine, but for Corps members that street was reserved for seniors. So Corps staff had all the company C.O.'s sign an affidavit stating that they had inspected all of their seniors' vehicles to ensure that a senior sticker was prominently displayed in the back window. One of my classmates drove a Jeep with plastic windows sides and back. No way a sticker was going to adhere to those windows, so he put it in front. And I signed their damn affidavit.
Sumbitch #@$%#!? AF wing staff puke took it upon himself to inspect all of the vehicles parked out there WHEN IT WASN'T EVEN HIS JOB. Wrote me up. I sat the Houston away game weekend. (If ya'll didn't sit weekends you have no idea what a PITA that was.) So I had our fish quad the guy on the preceding Friday and I leaned out the 4th floor window above him to say, "Yo, Bob. Hope you enjoy the game, dipshit!" To which he replied, and I remember this like it was yesterday, "I wasn't planning on going, either." So our fish took their time. Bastard.

tha frick?!
Yup, definitely USAF-type. Sounds like the type of persnickety bitch that would go up to my wife on active duty and critique her earrings for being heart-shaped (barely--so small you could barely see them
I sat a couple of weekends. For class-related stuff that I never had anything to do with, of course. '09 hated us, though

The only weekend I sat was because I didn't wear my Clas b blouse under the A.G. jacket one formation. Turns out we had to stand inspection that night all but three of us butt were out of uniform. It was a royal cluster that still makes me laugh. The inspector was kind enough to inspect the butts who had actually worn a complete uniform.

I get news at work today that Monday is going to be a bloodbath. A shite ton of good people and good Ags have been hit in O&G, but the end isn't in sight.

That sucks. Man times like these are tough

I got hit in July. I was fortunate that I had a backup plan in place because I could read the tea leaves, but many hard workers and good people that I know are still looking for work because of it.

We have had about a 50% reduction early in 2015. Another medium sized hit later in 2015 (30%?) and then another 50% on Monday. Which ends up about 80% from where we started in Jan '15. If things don't change we might close the doors. I'm okay for now because I took on a project at another facility, but damn it sucks.

So freebirds continues on their path down the drain.
First they get rid of the taco meal and raise prices.
Then they switch from Pepsi to coke.
Now, they've completely gotten rid of their meal.

Nah. PepsI is far superior to coke.

Sorry to hear about O&G job hits. I've always been worried about how heavily South Texas is invested in it. I was regretting not taking a 6-figure O&G job out of school, but I'd absolutely be looking for work right now. Software Engineers are probably among the first to go.

so i have a dynasty on NCAA 14 going. i got lucky and basically inherited great situations everywhere i went. i started out as the OC at UMass and i made sure we scored a bunch of points every game. that first offseason, i took a job at lousiville as the OC. they had a heisman trophy candidate QB, a WR that went in the 1st round, and their LT went in the 1st round. they won the national title and we had the #1 offense. i took a HC spot at miami ohio the next offseason and for whatever reason, the coach before me underachieved with a shitload of, relative, talent. we went 11-3 and won the conference and our bowl. that next offseason i took a HC job at penn state. i got the job because the coach apparently retired and he left me with a STACKED team. this is what i have done at penn state
