A post on the rant got me interested in doing this, but I've started with the 2010s and gone back to the 1970s making an all-decade team for each decade to compare for fun.

I'm born in 1984, so I grew up with the 90s and 00s. Heard all about the 70s and 80s from Dad. Anything before that I have no idea.

Only rule I made is each player could only be on one list (if their years overlap - ex. Kevin Smith).

All open to interpretation, let me know what you think or what I've missed (especially 70s and 80s, had to guess on a lot of them).

I can't decide what's the overall best unit, 70s defense or 10s offense??

A couple of disagreements with your list.

-Cody Scates was the best punter from 2000-2009.

-Jaxson Appel was by far our most productive safety in the 2000-2009 decade.

-Corey Pullig (Maj, USMC) was our best QB in the 90's. He may not have the stats that Bucky did, but he only lost 5 total games as a starter IIRC.

-Ron Edwards played from 1996-1999, you have him in the wrong decade. RED BRYANT should be in your 2000-2009 list.

Many of our best players cross multiple decades and should appear more than once:

Von Miller played from 2007-2010
Cyrus Gray played from 2008-2011
Christine Michael played from 2009-2012
Patrick Lewis played from 2009-2012
Randy Bullock played from 2008-2011
Ty Warren played from 1999-2002
Bethel Johnson played from 1999-2002
Terrence Kiel played from 1999-2002
Sammy Davis played from 1999-2002
Seth McKinney played from 1998-2001
Kevin Smith played from 1989-1991

He was my #2. Had some awesome hits, but punting wise, I think Brantly was still better.

Tackles? Sure. Toughness? Sure. Coverage? He was horrible. Burned repeatedly.

Again he would be my #2, but no, I don't think he was near the talent Bucky was.

You're right. Thought he played in 2000. I'll update this one.

I didnt want to do that. I wanted to create 5 unique teams for fun's sake.

Pullig was nowhere near the player Bucky was. I was at A&M then and if you need any verification go watch the Arkansas game over Thanksgiving and you’ll see how bad he truly was. There was not much talent in the SWC at that time and imo he wouldn’t be third string on last years team. Sorry Corey.

Ok, I'm REALLY confused. Pullig never played against Arkansas and the only time Bucky played against Arkansas over Thanksgiving, the Aggies lost.

You don't have Patrick Lewis listed anywhere. He was, and still is the best center A&M has had over this current decade.

The best starting O-Line in A&M history is still Joeckel, Ogbuehi, Lewis, Harrison and Matthews.

Ifedi is a better overall lineman than Harrison is.

You're probably right about Patrick Lewis. For OL I didnt really do them by position, just the 5 best OL. May change it though.

Corey Pullig

Bucky Richardson

Bucky was fun to watch in the option but if we needed a play longer than 5 yards on 4th down we were in trouble b/c he couldn't thrown the ball for shite.

Pullig was a bit of a bus driver but he drove the bus extremely well. His passing stats might not look like much by today's standards but back then he was one of the most successful SWC QBs of all time.

Corey held the school record for passing for about a decade.

He also has the most wins by any QB in school history.

His era also coincided with the worst (and last) era of SWC football.

I know he played in '09, but really didn't play QB until '10. I had him #2 behind JFF.

WR - Robert Ferguson

I would have fought you back then if you had tried to tell me he wasn't the greatest WR of all time at any level. Such a change of pace after growing up with RC's patented run up the middle on every 1st down.

Rick Cunningham was a starter for only a couple games the end of this senior year. You would be way better with Mike Arthur or Louis Cheek on the OL.
