I mean... I was fine moving on from him last year when Henderson came in and played a ton better on a team that was busy imploding on itself. Yates doing surprisingly well when pressed into service was also eye opening. The biggest difference w/ both of them was they were far more decisive. He hesitates too much and you can't do that in this league.

I think he may be a bit of a Kyle Allen in that he looks the part in practice but once he gets on the field? Ehh..... dude was seeing ghosts even when he had a clean pocket.

I think he was great until the injury. He just doesn't look decisive or confident anymore. It's time to bench him and try somebody else. That is the only fair move for the rest of the team

i dont know, but that segment they showed on college gameday sure didnt paint him in a positive light. all i could think was, theres no way this kid ever would have fit in on the baseball team.

I agree with this. The first time he played LSU, he was dealing dimes. Throwing it where only the wr could catch it. I thought for sure he would be one of the 3 best qb's in the SEC this season.

How do the A&M wr's compare now to his freshman season ?

First glance it looks like a major dropoff. Of course with some of those throws we could have first round NFL picks out there and they wouldn't have helped much at all.

A few of his passes were just laughable at this level.

We have a guy that played great vs LSU behind him. I would like to see the change announced immediately. I saw nothing from CW yesterday.

No idea if the change will be made by Elko. We have McNeese, Florida, and Bowling Green. Would make sense to make the change now and get playing time behind center over the next 3 games before the real SEC play cranks up. Gators are a mess at the moment so that's why I am saying before the real SEC play cranks up.

If he sticks with CW this week then I don't see why he would change for Gators.

If Jimbo was still there I could see him staying with Weigman because he was his recruit. I would think Elko could make a change all loyalty aside. As and LSU fan who went through this with Les, I understand how yall feel.

As much as we’ve complained about the offensive line the last few years, I thought they were decently improved (still not great) but good enough to go out and win a game.

Conner looked bad, real bad. I really hope it was just nerves/an off night, but he missed some throws and missed seeing the few open guys we did have. So many of the fans were ready to knight him Johnny 2.0 and I don’t see it.

Wide receivers weren’t great either, not lots of separation and just didn’t look quick. Not sure what the problem is.

Overall definitely not the start we were looking for post jimbo, I’m ready to start putting up 28+ points consistently. You gotta be able to score to win these days, can’t rely on just a stout defense.

I was not prepared for the offense to look worse than jimbo’s.

Neither was I,

Defense does a heckuva job and offense gives us the same old crap

We are going to to get boat raced so many times this year

The Offense was dogshit. Truly wretched. Conner had a deer in the headlights look and put in an embarrassing performance. Our receivers were disrepected all night long by their DC. And yet, with what — ~3 mins to play and a tie game — we were one defensive stop away from getting the ball back and a chance to go away happy, or at least force OT. Boggles the mind.

Really don’t know how to feel after that game. Even a day later not 100% sure

I’m not hitting the eject button on Conner yet. But man that was a bad outting, and tbh idk what I need to see against McNeese to feel any better. Maybe 350 and 4 TDs but even then the quality of opponent. There’s other issues too but rn that’s clearly our biggest which if you would’ve asked me before the game I would’ve said I wasn’t worried at all about QB

That was such a winnable game, my god. This loss hurts. I thought to myself if we lost, I would shrug it off but man did the offense look awful. Weigman to me is still QB1 but he 100% looked like a deer in front of a moving car. Defense will be damn good this year, that's for sure, but I don't have trust in this offense.

Either one or two things happen from here on out:

1. This outing might be our worst game of the year, week 1 jitters. We will get better in time.
2. Or, bad case scenario, we see this in multiple big games (Lsu, Mizzou, t.u) where the defense shows up but our offense is irresponsive.

Well, it's on to the next one I guess. Drop 50+ on MNSU and I guess I'll feel better. We don't get a "big" game like this until Mizzou. Have to make it count these next few weeks.

ND continues to look like shite. Pretty pitiful loss for Elko & Weigman

This loss stings a lot now but Connor deserved the start but Elko owes him nothing now

Maybe I’ve got maroon glasses on but I’m still not super butthurt over this lose. First game of the season, ND prepped for us for probably 2 weeks, gameday, night game they came in fired up. It’s a bad loss there’s no arguing but everyone comes out swinging week 1. It’s a long season and there’s plenty of good teams left on our schedule to make this a damn good year (or bad lol) one week at a time.

The results in the big picture don't mean much, enough quality games ahead to provide an opportunity to make the playoffs. The big shocker from the game was just how bad Conner played, he had to have that game circled on his calendar for months and then he came out and just laid a egg. Oh well, onward ahead.
