Elko is Jimbo 2.0 if he lets this continue.

Elko will be lucky to be half of what Jimbo was, and Jimbo sucked the last half of his coaching career

Elko called TexAgs a cesspool after the game and while he isn’t wrong, it certainly doesn’t help his case in staying after this season if he doesn’t turn it around.

Every single YT site I've been to has been very critical of Elko. This isn't a Texags thing. Texags runs a business model that is best with a winning team. The guy on Voice of College Football on YouTube said Marcel Reed is an athlete who plays QB instead of a QB playing football. Said no reason to play that kind of QB.
But in reality, there is nothing Elko can do about this in this season. If that means only one SEC win, so be it. He can then reflect on how to get better. But Marcel will not come out of this stupor. Marcel will play somewhere else next year. His last in football.

The whole getting OL who “have played in the SEC” bit us in the arse too. There was a reason why every single one of those kids were in the portal and was not because they were SEC quality linemen looking for a payday.

I'm beginning to believe that Elko will be gone after this season. I cannot believe how stubborn he is regarding these issues. It only gets worse from here. Can he survive 4-8?

Yeah this seemed like a disaster waiting to happen

I think it's less being stubborn and more making so many poor decisions that had no backup plan. There is no QB or OC on campus to right the ship.

Yes. He's made a terrible mess of it all, but he's in no danger of losing his job.

As I've said elsewhere, putting all the blame on Marcel is silly, but I think it was a big mistake to just write off Weigman after the LSU game in 2024.

He was often ineffective over 3 seasons and got injured every year. Good for him finding his level, though, and he's certainly thriving in year 5, but I don't see a reality where he sits on the bench here for his Jr and Sr year waiting for Marcel to eventually melt down.
