Honestly the more I think about it the less upset I am.

If he tears it up we likely go in the 8-4 territory, maybe 9-3 at best which may be enough to get Sumlin another year (which is not good). I don't see any way we are better than that next year even if Stidham plays like a Heisman candidate and future #1 pick. If he tears it up, he's likely headed to the NFL

If for some reason he doesn't tear it up or is even just pretty good, Sumlin is likely gone. Stidham was attracted to us because of Sumlin and Mazzone, so who knows what happens then with him. Very possible he leaves again or just heads to the NFL anyways

There is a legit chance he chases off Mond (obviously) and if you don't get Mond in either of the above scenarios we are in some shite with the next coach.

Maybe I'm jaded by all the QB transfers but I think this is the right move when you're thinking about 2018 and beyond for the next staff.

He's starting to sound like he has a little Kyl(er) in him. I was excited about the prospect of getting him but he sounds like he has turned into a huge pre-Madonna.

I don't understand why everyone is so in love with a QB who can't complete more than 55% of his passes on a stacked team in HS. All I see when I watch his highlights is him throwing deep balls to WRs who have blown by their defenders.

He's obviously not ready to play right away but he has a lot of potential, especially in an offense that utilizes his athleticism. I'm not really worried about next year at this point.

Based on historical data that goes all the way back to Sumlin's Cougar High days, I'd say that's for the best. Sumlin has a real knack of mishandling QBs. It all began with Terrance Broadway.

I was the guy pushing for Stidham, when most the board didn't want anything to do with him because of fear of another Kyl(er) mess.

Stidham was looking between Auburn and the "good guys". Then he starts tweeting, "Things are about to get interesting...". Now guys are saying he is trying to call the Sips and UF down the stretch. He's extending his visit in Auburn, which doesn't even have an OC.

Too much drama...

Are you talking about Mond? Because if you are, then I agree. I was severely disappointed with him when I watched one of his HS games on ESPN. His throwing accuracy is either way off or his receivers are running wrong routes/incorrect timing. I was not impressed with him one bit. If he is out saving grace, then whichever coach takes over in 2018 is going to walk into a terrible QB situation (unless Starkey turns out to be really good). If we end up starting Hubenack next year, we're fricked like a TJ hooker.

Yea, I'm talking about Mond. He can run and he can throw deep but every big highlight I see of him his dudes are wide the hell open.

I wanted him over Mond because Sumlin seems to do best with QBs that someone else recruited out of high school. He hasn't has a successful recruited out of high school QB as a head coach.

It's as if Sumlin can't coach players and needs transfer players who have been coached by someone else to come in, be team players, and win.

God, we are so fricked.

But Mond was also recruited by Briles out of high school, and as much of a douchebag Briles is, you can't deny he has an eye for talent at QB.

Briles probably had plans of developing him for a few years before playing but I think Mazzone should be able to just as well.

Maybe we can get Sherman back and no one would know. He was good with QBs.

Sumlin could be the Milli Vanilli of Football.

He is throwing 55% in HIGH SCHOOL.

Good luck with that developing into much more than a 18 wheeler package.

Better to get Rossley as an assistant. He is the guy who went and got JFF. Sherman wanted nothing to do with him and kept both JFF and Evans on the bench.

If I remember correctly, Briles had some knack for improving Qb's footwork that helped them make huge strides throwing the ball.

Also HGH. So two things missing from the equation.

There are a couple of videos out there of Baylor QBs working on just footwork. It does a lot to help the QB, but the evidence shows Sumlin wouldn't know anything about that. Every good or decent QB Sumlin has had learned from another college coach (Keenum had Briles, Manziel had Sherm/Rosales, Knight had Stoops).

Can A&M find some loophole where they can send their QBs to San Diego to train with Whitfield? If we can find a way to pay for Ogbuehi's insurance, then I'm sure we can find a loophole to pay Whitfield to host a couple of our QBs over the summer.

Mond won't start next year, Starkel will. Unless we get Stidham but that looks foggy now. Starkel can toss it around
