I don't think it's a good idea to load the bases. Two force outs is better than 3 with the threat of walking in a run.

Just wondering what I need to know about purchasing tickets for midweek games against these tuneup teams. Can you purchase gen. Admission at the gate, or is it advisable to do it before hand online? And will there be actual seating available, or just berms for arrival at game time?

You should have no trouble just walking up for a mid week game vs a nobody. If its say tu or Rice (not this year) then you'll need to buy early and show up early.
