And someone finally went there on the Shag ....

As I stated elsewhere, I support coach Strong. This flood of recruits to A&M right now is unlike anything I have ever seen before in the history of A&M. There is no way this is happening just because of Manziel, Sumlin and SEC. I'm going to say it. They are cheating.

That's a good point.
One of those fruit of the month deals may be the better way to go.

I will fully admit I was not on board with the Sumlin hire in December 2011. I thought he was a gimmick coach who carved out a small school niche with a great small school QB.
I'm so glad I was wrong.

Same here. I wanted 1. Peterson 2. Franklin 3. Strong
We couldn't have asked for a better fit with Rumlin

I was in the same boat as you. I thought we were going to be 5-8 wins every year, lighting up the scoreboard with classes in the 20-25 range. Basically the Tech of the SECW. What I didn't know, and was poorly advertised IMO, was how good a recruiter he was. I mean I get he couldn't really show that off at UH, and the single anecdote about Peterson was repeated ad nauseam, but I didn't think it would be this easy for us, and that's all because of him.

I was on the Kirby Smart bandwagon, because I thought a defensive minded coach was in order for the SEC and anyone who is thought of that highly by Saban is worth a look.
I still think he will wreck shop somewhere (probably Georgia) someday.

I liked Smart and Strong a lot. I'll be interested to see how Smart does. I think he should cut his teeth at a smaller school before taking on a big time SEC job honestly

I underestimated how much our program was viewed as a bunch of good old boys by Texas recruits. Since I've graduated and have come to know a couple people either loosely or closely involved in the AD, I've realized how much Sumlin opened up the door to minority athletes who previously were told by competing programs how racist we were.
I know for a fact that Kevin and Kyler Murray shunned one program in particular after they tried to play the A&M/race angle. So many schools even today try and pull that good old boy white supremacist shite on us.
Sumlin is a fantastic coach and recruiter, but his race DOES matter. It took away a major play that OU, Texas, etc. were using against us.
