Believe what you want. I followed recruiting closely that year and behind the paywalls. Hasty was the only Fab 5 kid waiting around for an offer and the rest were pleading for him to get the offer. A&M didn't offer or offered way late depending on who you believe. Malik Jefferson started looking around, then Daylon, and then others.
Go ahead and believe that this staff is perfect when it comes to recruiting if you want. I believe that there are always opportunities for improvement. I think these guys have made a few strategic errors that have inhibited this team from being where they could, but they are getting better.

Man just because you are behind a pay wall doesn't mean you have any better info than everybody, I regularly hang out with a couple of sportswriters who cover A&M, one of them covers recruiting (no not Hamm's dumbass) and I'm telling you Hasty had an offer, Malik had an offer but his mom was never letting him come here, we truly almost lost Kyler because we had KA but Charlie himself fricked that up for them. These kids tell people what they want to hear and if they are prima dona attention whore they will say whatever garners them the most attention. Is our staff perfect, no, none are. Could they improve, yes but you must remember we are dealing with mostly spoiled kids who have a sense of entitlement second to none.

We all belong to the recruiting sites. He was offered at the summer camp in 2013. There's a big write up on it on TA that I found simply by searching his name. If they were so dead set on playing together like you say you'd think he would have jumped on the offer when he had the chance.
Anderson and Bradford committed (who were both better backs) and he didn't have a spot. If you want to bitch about our coaching staff and our recruiting (which is hilarious to me because we are in the top 10 and the 2014 class is looking insane right now) please start another thread

I'm pretty sure he has Boyd and Hasty confused somehow, since Boyd got an offer much later from what I remember for some undisclosed off the field stuff.

Just a guess but I'd bet that when the Murray's sat down in his office that day he couldn't come even close to reasonably explaining to Kevin how they would use Kyler and what sort of offense they would run. I bet Kevin left Charlie's office shaking his head going "what the frick"?

Ok without mentioning any names I'll try. When Kyler and Kevin came to A&M after their visit to Texas, Charlie's pitch was repeated to them verbatim by a staffer, said staffer is related to or has very close ties (can't remember what my buddy said) to another kid Charlie wanted, apparently CS made the exact same you're my guy and it's your job pitch word for word to several guys and the Murrays didn't appreciate being lied to.
Disclaimer, this is what I was told by my sportswriter friend who is generally very reliable, I make no claims on whether it's 100% but he has never bullshited me in the past.

That's 100% believable when you consider the other desperate shite they've done in the recruiting game.
Once they swung and missed on the big names like Saban they really fricked up by hiring an outsider as HC. Someone who knew the Tx HS scene could have at least stocked up the talent for the next guy even if he was a bad coach.
