That's what he said, but it would have been surprising IMO if he actually went there a second time

Did you see Burton's OL rankings?

...at least according to a bunch of sips.

It's VIP, so I won't post the entire rankings. But some interesting rankings were that the 3* OT they flipped from Baylor, Ronnie Major, is apparently the #2 OL in the state. Lanfear is #6. Connor Dyer didn't make the top 15, and is one of 7 OL grouped in "Others". And Bobby Evans, the 4* OU commit, doesn't even appear anywhere on the list.

And yes, the comments to that article are fricking masterpieces. There are 300+ responses and every single fricking one is quotable
quote:
Wes,
WOW. You really wanted a 5 star commit this weekend I guess. You jumped the rails and then some with this article. This is the most paranoid article I have ever seen and it is completely unfounded. Sumlin had success with Johnny Football and Sherman’s recruits. He has no knowlege of defense and has virutally no success with his own recruits. I don’t care about Aggies or worry about them at all. UT is and will always be the better academic university in the great state of Texas.
Have you ever been to CS? It is a freaking field in the middle of no where. Stop worrying. We don’t want players that want Aggies or Sooners. I don’t fret the stupidity.
I will take a 3 or 4 star kid that wants to WORK in Charlie Strong’s program over any 5 Star elite guy that wants to play in Sumlin’s fantasy SEC land. Aggies are possibly getting our used laundry. You seem to miss the fact that this is exactly what we have been complaining about during the Mack Brown era.
Strong and Co. (including JOE freaking OL Wickline) are recruiting juniors that have a whole season to play and flip or not, etc.. I love the direction we are heading, and I don’t give a rat’s arse that a kid from Buda, Texas (a 2 mintute drive on I-35) likes the smell of manure in Aggieland over Austin. The kid is an OG not a OT and he is now forced to listen to some pathetic technorock at practice because it is cool in Aggieland (so they think because they don’t know the diffrence). Any OL that doesn’ t realize the benefit of playing for Joe Wickline wil not have much of a future.
Strong & Co. are bringing EXACTLY what Texas needs. Strong ethics and hard work is what will win games and give us joy AND it will show the parents of the talented and hard working kids that we are the place to be. Aggie attempts to excel and parasite onto granduer thru association remains pathetic. So Mizzou and Aggies have helicopters to recruit. I say FU to any recruit that is more impressed by a Helicopter than the plan to make him the best college football player he can be. They can have Darius White…our prior 5 star WR. They can take Dorial Green-Beckham and his SECOND arrest for pot possession.
Screw them. We are TEXAS.
You would have HATED Bear Bryant and Darrel Royal. They did not have helicopters or DJ’s. And, if they were coaching today…I dare to bet they would not use Helicopters or a DJ at practice. The DJ is beyond pathetic. I can only dream of having a Div. 1 football player nephew (or neice..ha) but if they were attracted to a school with a DJ at a football practice I’d yank them into reality of hard work. To me, the DJ at practice is a clear sign or desperation and lack of focus on what matters….which is WINNING on the field.

That's the kind of movement from Bobby Burton's ratings that I expected to see. Decommit from Texas? Down you go.
Flip from Baylor to the Stronghorns? Your stock is soaring. There might be an extra star added to your rating.
Mr. Burton, you didn't disappoint.

Yeah I'm going to read more of the comments later. The stuff in there about the toughness and their S&C workouts are hilarious to me though. LJs workouts are notorious and he's one of the most intense S&C coaches in the country

So I haven't really followed 2015 recruiting hardly at all, but I took a quick glance at 24/7 and the crystal ball projections for nearly every top recruit we are after has A&M as the heavy frontrunner. I like seeing that

Really like this but I don't like the amount of hubris on TA. This stuff is cyclical and how soon we collectively forget we were on the wrong side.

I agree with you but honestly most of the people both here and there have never been on the other side of it. They've dominated so long that too many Ags even seem to think we have never been here before

We've never been on the other side of it like this...when we're not only leaving Texas in the dust, but doing better than Notre Dame, Michigan, Florida State (non-SEC traditional powers) as well.
Even in the 80's and early 90's, we were behind Florida State, Notre Dame, Michigan, Nebraska, Oklahoma, Ohio State, etc.
