I can't help my BAS, I've had it too many decades

Right. Get the best players. Win the damn games. Send players to NFL. Rinse repeat. Doesn't matter how you get the results, just do it

I prefer the opposite, Coach Pop cracks me up- and Belicheck (sp?) has some great moments. This whole deal is like an addiction though- I hate it but always come back for more.

That's pretty much the only thing he's got going right now.
He did recruit Chavis for not that much more money (in the coaching world).
I hate it, I do. But my best IRL Aggie friend keeps chiding me about the truth- we can't keep them down forever. Charlie up until Malik was doing a terrible job of recruiting as a new coach in his first cycle at a top program. Eventually just the odds say he had to pick up a little steam at the end. Almost every coach gets a first full cycle bump- Fran did, Sherm did, Tubbs did, etc. It is natural. Honestly what is in the back of my head is if Kyler is gonna flip thank God its not OU. If Charlie actually gets his shite together we need Stoops to be fired and replaced with a CRAP hire if we are going to take advantage of this Big 12 GOR period. We will see, Charlie still has to get through Briles, Patterson, and now Beaty.
I don't think all three going to Texas would end our momentum, but it would eat up the time left on the clock for taking our shot. We would need some big wins soon. Suddenly my opinion shifts from 8 wins next year and hope for 10 in 2016 to we better see 9 next year before the bowl. And one of those needs to be LSU, Chavis needs to spill all the beans so we can Jon Gruden them at least one year. There is a lot of talent across the border we aren't going to get first pick on more than a token amount until we can say we are the best SEC team in the area.

The only actual quote we have from anybody important over the last few days is "I'm committed to A&M". WTF is wrong with Aggies? Seriously.
There are so many examples of this going badly. In today's world, there is a lot more going on that just what we officially hear.

I can't even get TA to load right now. Did it already go down?
Posted on 1/23/15 at 9:58 pm to finestfirst79
Dude, I'm sorry. I like you, but you're being delusional if you don't think there's absolutely a risk of Kyler flipping. He ain't stupid. Neither is Kevin. They know exactly how their actions are being perceived. Their silence speaks volumes. The Murrays know this is hurting A&M recruiting right now from a perception standpoint and with guys the staff is trying to close.

with the lack of wins, I am getting a bit frustrated with his arrogance.
So he should play nice if he's not winning?
It's his personality. He doesn't need to change it, IMO. He's not there to make friends.

What does he really have to be arrogant about? That's my point. I understand when Nick Saban goes off on the media for questioning his ways. Sumlin hasn't earned that yet.

This is another deal I don't get. Not much different than "Kyler could put this all to rest if he'd come out and say...". First, you're assuming that Kyler reads message boards to get all his news rather than, you know, being a kid. And then you have to assume that he or his dad would give a shite what the high blood pressure fans think. Same now with Spavital. Neither of those guys owe anybody an explanation. The only actual quote we have from anybody important over the last few days is "I'm committed to A&M". WTF is wrong with Aggies? Seriously.
Let's not play dumb. Murray had people asking him about his fricking orange tie at the awards ceremony last night, he knows damn well what a stir this has caused.
Kyler could call up Oregon or OU and commit tomorrow if he just wanted to go somewhere else. There is NO LOGICAL REASON for him as an elite spread QB to entertain Texas over those schools unless A) This is the single greatest troll in recruiting history or B) This is a spiteful play by the Murrays. That family is too sharp to for one second think Texas is a better situation for his style than A&M, Oregon or OU.
Now, because the troll excuse has been shot down by everyone from Liucci to Ketch I have no reason to believe it. This just screams "frick you" by the Murrays.

This cannot be stressed enough. If Kyler Murray was set on going to A&M, he would quiet these rumors.

I think that, ultimately, if you can't put on a different face for a half hour to the detriment of your career then that is a sign of a personality flaw.
If the only reason Malik isn't an Aggie right now is because Sumlin couldn't bring himself to say "Well I'm in talks with a an elite, top-5 coordinator and I expect it to go down in the next couple of weeks but I can't use names because he is still under contract at another school" then I have a problem with that.

Sometimes I forget that you are a real person and not an actual troll. All of this is spot on.

Kevin Sumlin is a 50 year old major college football coach with a college degree, 25 years of experience and a $5 million salary. Malik Jefferson is a 17 year old high school senior who is about as worldly as Carlton Banks.
If our coach can't win that bluffing contest if he chose to try then we have much bigger issues than pissing off 5 star recruits.
Charlie Strong fits essentially those same characteristics, and he can barely string together three syllables.
There's nothing magical about making $5M.
At the end of the conversation, Sumlin couldn't tell Malik who his DC would be. Even Carlton Banks would waver under those circumstances, especially if Uncle Phil is putting the full court press for UTx.

where this conversation is going is world's off base. If you don't have info, why do y'all feel the need to assign blame for things that might happen. It's hysteria and just odd
Relax and good outside and play for a while

He didn't even need to bullshite, if that was really Malik's only hang up be probably could have told him just what I posted and it would have worked.
Or, just tell him it's gonna be DJ Durkin or some shite and then surprise him with Chavis. Is Malik really gonna decommit because you landed someone objectively better than you said you would?
Sumlin had numerous ways to play that, and instead supposedly went with "No comment".

We know the Murrays are sharp people. I don't think Kevin would risk his son's football career by going to play in an inferior offense just to be spiteful and petty. Hence, I think Kyler is going the pro baseball route. frick A&M and Sumlin over, but it still saves his son's career and makes Kyler a cool million-plus dollars.

He just is a prideful person. Why does it have to be directly correlated to some accomplishment? That's you projecting.

I disagree with this line of thought. It's his personality. He doesn't have to earn anything.
