It seems obvious he told Jefferson that he couldn't give him a name (because the search is ongoing). Unless you have a signed contract or are close to one, that makes sense. If Jefferson got pissed off about that, he was looking for a reason to go to UT. I think it's obvious he and his family have been looking for an excuse to pick UT this whole time. That was the one they used. I hate losing MJ, but this actually makes me feel better about the DC search. Sumlin gets how important it is, and I wasn't sure he did at the outset.

If Jefferson were REALLY considering A&M seriously, why not postpone the decision a week? Why stick to an artificial self-imposed date? Especially with uncertainty around the Texas DC. If the DC is so important to Malik, now seems like the absolute worst time to pick either Texas OR A&M. A few weeks down the road would provide so much more information on both programs.

This entire recruiting class hinges on who we hire and the timeline in which we do it. Who knows, the guy we hire could love Sapp and we offer.

He wants to play WR. Merritt > McNeal. Lodge > McNeal. Also, it opens up a spot for Boyd or Weathersby.

Or is shows how hard it is for us to fill the position with someone who isn't a step back.

I am sure as soon as it became clear that Sumlin was going to shite the bed his sip family rode him hard to stick to the date.

Supposedly McNeal just tweeted something along the lines of Mack is next.

I would be pretty shocked if Mack flipped to UT. He's shat on them any chance he's gotten.

As far as McNeal as an individual player I didn't care much for him, we only have a few spots at WR this class and I don't think he was worthy of one of them IMO

Yeah, the only competition for Mack is LSU.

I agree...would much rather have Merritt than McNeal. But if McNeal meant Jefferson, then give me McNeal

I feel like the longer this takes the more likely its Foster simply waiting to get his annuity payment.

If he can't wait a couple weeks to see who it is than he might not be worth the trouble in the first place.

Whoa. Went to check this out, and his tweets are now protected. This probably happened after that whole Hamm thing.

With what the sips lose at WR, McNeal will play right away.

Between Kevin Murray's tweet and the increasing reality that Mack may flip, now to February should be an interesting ride.

A great DC hire has that much more meaning now.
