Was Sherman a good o line coach while at our program? He recruited some studs while as a HC so I'm curious

From my recollection, Sherman was a fantastic O-Line coach. Back in that time frame we were getting quite a few into the NFL iirc

Maybe the relationship would've been weird but he could've been a very good hire for us this offseason. Nothing against DC, he may be great too but I was just thinking that he recruited these linemen that we're sending to the league year after year and if he could coach them up and bring in more guys like that, I'm sure we all would be happy. I wonder if that's an avenue Sumlin explored...

Yes. I fell right in it. I planted hard to turn while running and the very spot I planted on was a still warm cow patty.

I'm really bullish on the Chavis hire and not just because of the troll factor. Snyder's scheme was overly complex and it seemed like a lot of times last year our guys would be looking at the sideline or barking out calls right up to the snap which is especially deadly on that side of the ball. Chavis seems to be much more about giving people default assignments and letting them read/react from there.

If I'm skeptical about anything it's our OL.

It seemed like they were doing that ALL THE TIME.

I played for both types of DC. I much preferred the kind that told you "in this formation, if you see X, your responsibility is Y. If you see Z, your responsibility is W" to the type of DC who wanted to do the anaylsis himself and have you watch him for some kind of sign language telling you which of his complicated and ineffectual blitzes he wanted you to run or to change your respobsility via sideline signal on every play.

Agreed: ALL THE TIME. How in the hell is it even possible to play defense that way?

It's more like the Air Raid philosophy that says it's easier to teach guys to execute 10 things really well than execute 100 inconsistently

Yeah that's where I expect the improvement to come from. Our players can read and react and be aggressive to the ball instead of having a million things flowing through their head. I think fundamental shite like tackling will improve just because they won't have to think nearly as much

Like Bruce Lee said " I fear not the man who has practiced 10,000 kicks once, but I fear the man who has practiced one kick 10,000 times."

ASU got white unis for the opener. Does this mean we can wear some form of all black?

the Rob Ryan Cowboys D comes to mind

IDGAF how great it is on paper, if it takes so long to get the players set that they are consistently still barking out assignments right as the ball is snapped its a useless D.

Here's how I wish we'd handle the uniform combo thing.

Home: white pants, maroon jersey, maroon helmets.
Away: white pants, jersey and helmet.

I never have liked the maroon pants.

Sherman was a very good OLine coach. I knew him well when he first got to TAMU. He followed Joe Avezanno who was also a good OLine coach.

I wish but I thought we reserved those for home games. Since we're having a black out on Halloween though a maroon out may happen! I'd be pumped!

So I recently was talking to a high schooler who is a pretty good football player and loves A&M, and he had some interesting things to say about one of our freshmen. Not sure what the etiquette is here. It would definitely be whacked immediately if someone posted it about an LSU player.
