we hire one of the 3 names in this thread then I’ll be questioning my VOLS love.

i dont get the mullen hate. He has easially been the 2nd best coach in the sec the past several years. put him in a place like tennessee where he can get real talent and it would be dangerous. The dude had miss state ranked #1 for crying out loud... mississippi state!

you can accept reality or live in a fantasy land. We are not bama, we are not osu, we are not playing for national titles year in and year out.

Correct. We are not. Are you saying this is now impossible to return to being a program of this calibur? I don't buy it.

quote:

if you are hanging on to a program from 20+ years ago you are setting yourself up for misery. some of you frick tards act like we reguarded as a powerhouse... we just lost to vandy for the 4th time in 6 years.

Correct. We are not currently a powerhouse. However, we have shown that we can still land top 5 recruiting classes, we have world class facilities and one of the best SEC towns in the conference as well as a very passionate fanbase. Recruiting in Tennessee keeps getting better. There is no reason to believe we can't compete occasionally for the SEC East (at a minimum).

quote:

No one, absolutely NO ONE outside of some of our idiot fan base looks at our football program as a powerhouse. The landscape has changed, this is not your grandpas Tennessee team. Can we improve? Sure.. buy holy shite some of you idiots act like its owed to us!

The only thing that RANTVOLS seem to believe is owed to us is that our AD and boosters hire the best coach available. That's Currie's fricking job. He does owe that to us.

quote:

We are a mediocre at best program, and have been for 15 years now. stop living in the 90s and accept it for what it is.

I don't think anyone here needs to be reminded. My ESPN keeps reminding me that we lost to Vandy for the second year straight. My facebook is full of friends who are pissed off. However, if you accept that mediocre is ok, then you've already quit as a fan. "Oh well, VOLS are just a last place SEC East team." frick THAT.

quote:

i have no clue why you set yourselves up for this misery

Accepting mediocrity sounds more miserable to me.

So which is it? Is Tennessee mediocre, or could a good coach have us back at the top. Very confusing logic, user oleyeller.

Edit: I would also add that Dan Mullen probably has been the best coach in the SEC for the past few years. He has competed with Saban despite recruiting classes that average 27th in the country over the past 4 years. He punches way over his weight class imo.

Lol, the 2nd best coach in the SEC who has only finished higher than 4th in his division ONCE in his career.

Nevermind the fact that MSU ALWAYS has BY FAR, the weakest non conference schedule and Kentucky as the permanent cross division opponent.

unfortunately.. this is the reality

Dan Wolken, USA Today- As the last 24 hours have evolved, Greg Schiano has emerged as the focus of Tennessee’s search. Vols have also been engaged with Mullen, who has been trying to wait out Florida.

"Have been told consistently since Friday the Schiano talk is part smokescreen, part controlled leak to gauge reaction on backup to backup plans. Currie’s own words, plus this @washingtonpost story, make Schiano a worst-case-scenario:"--John Brice

there are realists and there are people who will believe anything they read on the internet. Its not hard to tell who is who.

Apparently if someone doesnt agree with your opinion, they are a troll. Lulz.
