Anybody else heard stories of how terrible UT fans were treated in Athens?

Some really eye opening stories on several different boards on how a lot of fans were treated this weekend. Stories of UGA fans trying to start fights, throwing food and drinks at us, and being terrible sports fans on the way out after the game. Several different people saying that that was the worst gameday experience that they have ever had and topped a lot of the stories that come out when we visit Gainesville.

I was supposed to go with a big group, but due to some things that were beyond our control we ended up not being able to make the trip. The more that I hear from people the happier I am that I didn't end up going because I would have ended up knocking somebody the frick out or getting jumped in the process. fricking trashy arse pussies. frick UGA -- I'm glad that we crushed their fricking souls.

They have been absolute dickheads from what I've been told by my cousins who went to the game.

I heard they were great before the game and thought they were going to lose but that after the game they wanted to start fights with everyone. I suppose they got cocky during the game and then had their hearts broken but still no way to behave.

I am deterred from going to Athens for football from the 5 hour trip to go 50 miles back to Duluth after the game.

Another thing that sucks about Georgia is the fricking DOT and GA 316!

I was there decked out in orange. My gf is a UGA grad so she wore UGA gear. I didn't have any issue at all though, zero people trying to start some shite and zero people barking.

It was a crazy experience and I was SO glad that I was there. I wish I was at the Florida game too. That second half has to be one of the greatest performance in UT history.

Yeah, message board stories are always true. Come on man. I hear stories like this all the time after an intense game and I have never once seen anything in person.

I know what you're saying but that game was heart breaking enough for UGA fans where it wouldn't surprise me if things didn't get nasty for some. Drunk fans who are celebrating what they thought was a come from nowhere 50 yard desperation pass miracle win when there was only 19 seconds left had that snatched away from them by a come from nowhere 50 yard Hail Mary thrown with only 4 seconds of game time left and nothing left on the clock by the time the pass was caught for a game-winning TD. You're celebrating what under 99.9 percent of circumstances is a sealed victory, and one that would've been huge for the program under Kirby and for Eason, only to see it go up in flames. That's going to make a few out 89k mad and some of them really mad.

I was two sections over from the Pride of the Southland. I had very few bad interactions with fans. Of course there were a few obnoxious people, but that was to be expected.

As I was leaving, there were more (probably drunk) obnoxious Vol fans then anything. College age kids yelling "this is our town" and of course, that incited some of the UGA fans.

Overall, it was a good trip and it was far from the rumors I had heard of how bad it was going to be.

I'm not saying that things didn't happen because there are always a few idiots at each game and I wouldn't be surprised if more happened because of the emotional roller coaster. I'm just saying you have to take everything at face value if you read it on a message board.

Strange, I usually hear opposing fans say they love coming to Athens. The worst that happens is someone barks at you

This is my feeling. I obviously wasn't at the game though.

I heard a little bit of barking, none directed at me or in my face.

I really did enjoy the trip. I took my 5 year old, and we walked down to the hedges, Smokey reached over them and gave him a high five.

There was this obnoxious 50 year old that talked a lot of crap to some guys in the row below us, he with 2:00 left in the 4th quarter.

The only time I went to Athens I had a horrible time.

Not because of anyone barking in my face. I sat in the rain and watched Georgia push our defensive line around all day, starting our 0-6 streak in '88. Later I got drunk at The Flying Buffalo and spent the night puking my guts out. I thought at one time I was throwing up pieces of stomach or lung (but being 19 years old and drunk, I didn't realize it was just pizza sauce and pepperoni).

The fans were actually a lot of fun to drink with.

I've been to 10 uga/ut games in Athens and have never seen anything bordering on bad. In fact the worst thing I can recall is 98 with UT fans being vocal after the game but that's all part of the game. For as intense as this game is and has been recently its' actually been surprisingly civil and well mannered from my POV.
