He won a national championship at Pitt and immediately left to bring the Big Orange back

if that's what Lane did, then what the hell do you call what Butch is doing?

I would easily take Lane over Butch any day. So long as I never hear about bricks again.

Shame on you Walt for letting your little feelings get in the way of the Lane Train Part Deaux.

Kiffin in his short time here demonstrated that at the very least he knew what it was going to take to win at Tennessee.

Lyle has yet to demonstrate that he even comprehends what itntake and he is in year 4.

Insert Kiffin sunglasses deal with it gif.

All Kiffin has to do to get the Reds like Walt back on board is to read a prepared heartfelt statement and say he is sorry. Maybe add in Big Orange Country or britches comment for good measure.

I'd rather ride with Lane again 10/10 times than put up with Baby Back Butch's team 121 and subequent pvssy whoa is me mentality.

7-6? The guy that told Tadj Boyd he wasn't wanted?

1. You guys want an amoral creep to be the head coach.

2. It ain't happening. His contract with Bammer expires in February. Jones is-not- getting fired. And I seriously doubt he will just up and leave. Kiffin will have a new team to frick over by the time Jones is done.

Can you really not see with better eyes?

It is totally apples and oranges. Kiffin might have had a good run at UT -- I was at the USCe game and the UGA game that year.

But he bailed on us, and he planned to bail on us the WHOLE frickING TIME.

Nothing that Jones did matches that.

The Neyland Stadium pic on my "I Love UT" wall is from the 2009 UGA game.

Look I am as down on Botch as anyone but I think yall are Doing some major revisionist history on the whole Kiffin era

He had MUCH more talent to work with than Dooley (in any year probably) or Botch's first two years and still only managed 7-6.

Combine that with the NCAA A almost instantly being up our arse and his less than checkered tenure AT ONE OF THE BEST SCHOOLS IN THE COUNTRY and I think I'll pass thanks

I'm not even considering the part where he bailed on us, that's another issue in and of itself

I could give a frick less what you think; can ya'll not remember what Kiffin did? He took a job at UT hoping and praying that he could get back to USC the next year. That is the duck and that is the way it quacks, and that is the way it walks.

We had Tyler Bray for a QB instead of Tadj Boyd.

"Boyd finished his career with school records and conference records for passing yards with 11,904 and passing touchdowns with 107. He is currently the all time leader in both of those categories." -wiki

If you want Lane Kiffin at UT again, you apparently don't do very well functioning as an adult.

Majors was able to stack the cards in his favor at Pitt.

"It wasn't pretty, but Majors had a pretty good idea that the Panthers' luck was about to change, thanks to a massive recruiting class that included the best running back he'd ever seen.

Pitt's once-proud program had sunk to unfathomable depths. It hadn't produced a winning record in a decade, hadn't beaten Penn State since 1965 and was coming off a 1-10 season in which it was outscored 350-193.

The first key to the renovation project was a change in the school's scholarship policy. Previously, Pitt had been locked into the so-called "Big Four Agreement" with West Virginia, Penn State and Syracuse. It was designed to regulate the schools' football programs and limited each to just 25 scholarships per year.

...

Majors gave his staff a simple directive: "Bring in anybody who can help us win."

Depending on whom you ask, the class ranged from 65 to 100 kids. Sherrill has it pegged at 76."

LINK

"And the stories from those old recruiting days are memorable, like how Johnny Majors gave scholarships to 73 players in his first recruiting class at Pitt in 1973. Like how one Pitt assistant used to drive a recruit home after high school basketball practice. Like how The Fonz recruited Marino...When Majors first came to Pitt, there were no limitations on how many recruits a college could sign in a year. That's why Majors signed 73 in his first class at Pitt. The next year, the NCAA put a limit on scholarships. These days, a college can sign only 25 in a year.

"Things were bad at Pitt when I came. They were only giving out 25 scholarships a year," Majors said. "They agreed to give me 50 scholarships a year for four years. I remember in that first year we already had 40 recruits and I went to [athletic director] Cas Myslinski and said, 'Cas, we still have a lot of people left to sign.' We were recruiting everywhere. He took me to the chancellor [Wesley Posvar] of the school, and I asked if we could have more than 50. Dr. Posvar gave us the go ahead. So I said, 'Let's just sign everyone who can breathe or walk.' "

Majors was never a very good coach.

When you don't know the history it is hard to make good decisions.

It is like people can remember last week's NCIS but not the events surrounding Kiffin's time at UT.

7-5 in the regular season with two Watkins starting on the OL who weighed 250 lbs and made Cronpton a competent QB.

Butch just went 8-4 with a much better roster.

I really, really don't get the Kiffin love in the fan base. Asking him to come back and coach is akin to asking the live in pool boy that was banging your wife and bragging about it on Facebook, Instagram and Twitter to move back into your house because he's a good cook.

It's straight unnatural.
