If you have an inferior opponent, then why do this?

Why not stop at 21 ahead?

Let me give you a little history.

The Choke at Doak

The Choke at Doak was a 1994 college football game between the Florida Gators and Florida State Seminoles. The game is one of the most memorable in the heated Florida–Florida State rivalry and tied the NCAA record for the biggest fourth-quarter comeback.[1] In the matchup of 9–1 cross-state rivals at Florida State's Doak Campbell Stadium, Florida squandered a 28-point fourth quarter lead and allowed the Seminoles to tie the score at 31 in the final minutes. Because the game occurred before the advent of overtime in college football, it ended in a tie that would be regarded very differently by each team's fan base.

Score at the beginning of the 4th quarter
Fla 31
FSU 3

Final score
Fla 31
FSU 31

Auburn had LSU at 71-3 two weeks ago, but we settled for 48-11.

You don't run the score up on SEC teams in these types of games.

What a dick University.

No wonder why their University has fallen so hard Academically recently.

Trashy.

should have a mercy rule. If you go into the fourth quarter leading by 30 or more points, then the game should end.

...Florida State

I listed to a Bobby Bowden interview way back when, sometime in the middle of their great early 90's run. Someone had asked him about running up the score. I'll paraphrase here, but he basically said...

"1) It's not my job to stop scoring, it's your job to stop us from scoring.

2. We may have our third or fourth string in, but we are going to run our offense. Period.

3. Speaking of those third and fourth string players... those guys are hard workers. They put their time in on the football field, in the weightroom, and in the classroom. After they have practiced hard and sweated all week, you want me to put them in the game and tell them not to do their best? They earned it.

I don't run up the score. We play our game with all our team players. Period. It's just that simple."

You lost me at Dodge Chargers.

Also, Illegal College Tudors, Continuous Decade-Proven Probation, and $500 "Handshakes".

Why run up the score on Kentucky?

63-3 is a bit much.

I guess Auburn has never run up the score on anyone? I get that it doesn't happen as often as you'd like, but don't act like Auburn is superior in any form or fashion. Specifically when speaking about "morals".

Like Iglass stated:

In today's game, you have a guy who is going to play 3-4 years and be done. So, he has about 36 opportunities to showcase (audition) what he can do on the field.

I do believe that if you get a comfortable lead up, you should not have your full compliment of starters in at the same time, but you run your game plan and if it happens to produce more points, so be it.

Don't want the score run up, defend and prevent it. Recruit and coach better.

That being said, those should be the rules for MOST seasons....with this shite show going on, NOBODY knows how many games you are going to get in, against what level of competition, and what the voters are looking for, so all bets are off.

I expect Bama, UF and A&M to attempt to beat us as badly as possible. It is our job to not let that happen and fight for the W.

You could have used a college tutor whether illegal or not then you might have been able to differentiate them from Henry VII's royal house.

Buffalo was down like 31-3 to Houston in NFL playoffs.

With modern offenses, a big lead is 4 plays.

Would you empty bench in a 6-2 baseball game in sixth inning?
