I really think Beck held Bobo back with his recklessness.

Because Monken was better and Chaney may have been a bit better as well.
Bobo is a solid OC. He's not great. UGA fans were wanting great.

His win as our QB over Florida in the dark days of the 1990s honestly carries a lot of weight with me

Laughable. Cheney never saw a middle of the field 25 yard pass that he liked. Fromm made a living throwing 10 yard slants for the first 2 years he was the starting QB. What made Georgia go back then was Chubb, Michel, and Swift.

Because he was one of the longtime assistants under Richt, and a portion of the fanbase thinks anything Mark Richt related is poison.
I’m not joking, when we changed the font on the end zone letters this year to the bock letters, there were fans saying we were doomed because that’s how the end zones looked when Richt was at Georgia.
There’s a portion of our fanbase that is really unhinged about the whole dynamic.

People may not remember this but Bobo was even polarizing when he was qb here. 1995 he looked good but had season ending tibial plateau fracture. 1996 he had new coach/system and stunk up the joint. In the early internet days there were a lot of fans calling for his backup to start. It didn’t help that he did some knucklehead stuff off the field. He went on to have a great senior season. As an offensive coach he played under Donnan (who ran Switzers option at OU), apprenticed under Richt, and incorporated elements of both their styles when he became OC. As OC he had a couple clunkers and fans have remained polarized about him throughout. But he had some great offenses statistically his first stint here. He also spent a year watching Monken and incorporated some of those concepts as well. I’ve been a big fan of his throughout and got to know him, Lainie and the kids through my job. I think he’s a damn fine OC and wish people would relax and appreciate him but he is always just one clunker away from folks calling for his head again.

A lot of the "fans" here on this board that don't like Bobo are the Auburn fans and the South Carolina fans since he coached there. They are never afraid to chime in and say Bobo sucks.
The majority of UGA fans like Bobo.
