You have to be historically stupid or just fricking stupid. Not sure which. Urban Meyer took the Florida job. Utah interim’d his assistant (wisely) to eventually take over. Rich Rod left WV for Michigan. No bowl coaching. It is and always has been typical, Lane just walked on his program. What part of that does dumbassed LSU fans not understand?

How does that apply here?
We were 8-4 with a backup Qb getting ready to play in the Citrus Bowl and he was flirting with the NFL, not a direct recruiting rival.

LSU will stroke Ole Miss a check for $4 million next week. LSU will also start paying Lane ~$250,000 a week starting Monday. All while Brian Kelly is paid $8.5 million dollars a year for the next 6 years. These are big boy numbers. And you expect Verge to do all that so his head football coach can do whatever the hell he wants, whenever he wants to do it 300+ miles away from his university ? That's just LSU's side of the coin. Do I need to explain Ole Miss' cost/benefit or you good ?

Yea, if Lane wants to coach at LSU that's fine but he doesn't get to play both sides if I'm Ole Miss. It's a shitty situation because with the schedule if he's going to LSU he needs to get to work quickly on what staff he's going to have and get active in the portal. That doesn't mean OM should let him use the playoffs as a platform to help their rival LSU.

OK, so since everybody is out for themselves, what benefit would OM get out of letting him coach?
