As someone who still hopes he stays, he is absolutely destroyed his reputation on a national level.
When there are this many coaching opportunities available mid-season, a potential coach must strike while the iron is hot. No one with any sense thinks any less of Kiffin for maximizing his lifetime earnings, unless he is neglecting his coaching duties in the process (and I see no evidence that this is occurring).

He is a human being who has free will over where he wants to work.
Neither you or anyone else involved gets a say or matters at all.
Those kids are getting paid out the frame and they all know that this is what comes with it. This is D1 athletics, not tee-ball.

Literally my first post you can see I’m trying to make the OP feel better. See what happens when you try to be nice?

On College GameDay this morning Nick Saban addressed this saying it was the system that created situations like this, schools allowed to poach coaches during the season, the portal during the playoffs and such.
And Saban is 100% correct. I feel awful for Ole Miss and its fans. It’s not like they haven’t done anything and everything possible to provide Kiffin what he needed to win and compete at the highest levels.
At the same time, I can’t blame LSU or Florida for doing exactly what the system allows and trying to get a guy they think will get their respective programs back to the level of winning championships.
While it would be nice to think Lane himself has gained perspective and maturity, and I think he probably has in some ways, he’s also fundamentally a guy who has always had a rolling stone aspect to his personality and may never be able to plant deep roots anywhere. He’ll always be chasing the next great thing because that’s just him. There are people like that in all walks of life.
It’s the system that has created this environment. If people don’t like this then address the system.

This happens all the time. This situation is just more public.
Hell, does anyone really believe Miles wasn’t talking to Michigan during our 2007 championship run?
Success brings opportunity for coaches and like anyone else, they would be foolish to not explore opportunities.

He has not, but this truly highlights a problem with the system and Saban is right, there needs to be serious adjustments.
I’m curious - you have to think your AD has started a search for a new coach (as would be prudent of any AD in this situation). Who do you hope your AD is reaching out to and vetting?

Been reported that Sumrall wants to come here bad and we’ve already been deep in discussions with him. Rumors that he’s already turned down Florida and putting auburn on hold.
I don’t know a lot about him but I’m told he’s done a great job holding two different programs together after coming off a shitshow situation.

I agree Sumrall would be a stellar hire.
But then if that’s all true, OM is also playing the meddling game, too. Sumrall has Tulane also on the cusp of a playoff bid.
Would Ole Miss fans be ok if Sumrall skipped out on his team to go to OM after raging at Kiffin for doing it to them?
To be clear I’m not trying to rip on OM fans, only trying to highlight the system is broken and creates these shitty situations that schools who want to make the best hires must deal in.
