For some reason, he keeps getting media credentials, pokes his head with the beat writers in post game interviews, and gets one on one interviews with coaches.

He is pretty much the only media member devoted exclusively to college football, and he genuinely loves the sport. He’s going to have a shite ton more content with a 24 team playoff. That’s why so many other blowhards in sports media are clamoring over it while the fans universally hate it. Not Pate. Josh Pate always wants what’s best for the fans of the sport. He stands alone in that endeavor frequently

Having media access doesn’t make someone a journalist. It does make his content more valuable to college football fans who just want to talk college football and the issues that affect it.

The difference here is that you seem to have some level of expectation of him for him to be something other than that, and I don’t.
Reference my Sunkist vs Orange Juice analogy. He’s a college football fan with great people skills and microphone skills, and he’s good enough with those things that he’s been given a platform to talk college football to other college football fans. That’s it. If you’re expecting more than that, that’s your fault.
He’s the Rock in WWE, and you’re expecting him to wrestle like Ricky Steamboat. That’s not his problem.

Ummm.
Do you watch the sport?
I can come up with a dozen media members who are solely relevant because of college football.
All of a sudden, he is a media member.
Don't think I didn't notice that he isn't just a college football fan anymore.

I dont have a journalist degree from UGA.
But I know that a journalist gathers information and dispenses it to masses through media and digital footprints.
Just because he is a shitty journalist does not shield him from the journalist label. He literally sits behind a desk with a produced show. He literally sits one on one with coaches. They dont do that with regular fans.

I expect him to be honest.
Instead, he is "never wrong" when fans challenge him on what he says. And he goes into word salad why he is never wrong.
The reality is that anyone who puts out media is going to be wrong sometimes. You would like for someone as big as Pate is to have the balls to own his predictions. Both the good ones and bad ones.
Josh pate is a good guy. I know for a fact that other media members and journalists love him.
But I also know that they know he can be shitty sometimes when he says something wrong.
There is an old saying in media.
Be yourself.
Unfortunately for Pate, that includes being a narcissist who can't admit when he is wrong.
