Are there any Ole Miss fans that are grateful for what Lane did for the University?

I expected to see a few fans taking up for him, but I have yet to see one. All I see is hate, which is unfortunate.

Eventually there will be. I think its too fresh to see that now. There are a lot of us LSU fans that respect the frick out of Saban and appreciate what he did for LSU football. But, he left for the NFL. He didn't leave for a rival. Ole Miss fans are gonna be bitter for a minute.

He didn’t win them a title and left them for the team they hate the most lol. Of course they aren’t grateful and they shouldn’t be.

I was always grateful for Dan Mullen, but I think I was in the minority.

In 3 years I think they'll realize their AD screwed them over. They should've went all in to let whoever stay and coach the playoffs as long as possible last season. And in the midst of it, hire Weiss Jr as new head coach or do a real coaching search. The AD literally did the worst possible thing because his feelings were hurt.

I did not like Mullen when he was at state but he was an awesome coach. He completely galvanized the fanbase and made the rivalry fun. Much respect

No it’s not. These guys get paid millions for those wins. Ole Miss doesn’t owe Lane anything, and LSU didn’t owe Saban anything.
Lane is also just an arse, so any coaching relationship with him is completely transactional.

I disagree. Call me crazy but I would rather have dignity than a championship. I have never seen one anyway lol

Sure he took our program up a level or two
But it’s how he left and his victim behavior and trying to poach our players to come to lsu with him and quit on a playoff team that is what we all hate about him

This assumes Lane would’ve performed when in reality, we actually saw Lane lay such an egg in a CFP semifinal when coaching FAU while still Alabama OC, that Saban canned him before the national title game.
If he couldn’t do double duty between FAU and a coordinator position, no way he could have done it between two SEC head coaching positions.

Even if they are better, nobody wants to think like that. Who wants to just roll over and say, “yeah it’s ole miss so I understand why he is leaving us for them”? I feel like there should be more of a sense of belonging in a fanbase. We shouldn’t just have to accept second fiddle

After already basically taking the Auburn job in 2021 or whatever year that was. And bitching about attendee at the citadel game weeks after it happened during a game that was a sellout.. he was never happy here and was always looking for a way out.
There is no way he should’ve been allowed to coach ole miss while accepting the lsu job. That is so straight up stupid to allow that
Edit: it was the constant hypocrisy of him calling the fans out for not being committed and all in despite giving him
More money each year for more players and never being told no and yet he’s the one constantly looking for new jobs and greener pastures

It’s insane the hatred they have. Hell Kiffin stayed longer than most expected
State fans didn’t act this way when Mullen left. Some were upset sure but they didn’t make an arse of themselves and we appreciate the job he did getting us back out of the gutter
