Who was the guy here that was showing off his son's OVs to all of the SEC schools?

He posted here a lot, and his son was a kicker... I think. Could've sworn he said he committed Arky, but I just saw a tweet that said Florida just offered a scholly to a kid that's a kicker who's currently commited to Arky. Are they the same guy?
If not, disregard the post.

Gaston, and yes, that is his son.

Yes, Noel is currently committed to Arkansas. May be hard to keep him, unless he really wants to go out of state.

Well Gaston lives in coastal MS, and I don't think LSU or either of the Mississippi schools had much interest in him.

His first offer was from Ole Miss…but since August 1st they have not sent an official graphic. I guess that means they’re walking back the verbal. Oh well.
Zero interest from State or LSU…but they both have dumpster fires for kicking rooms.

Him putting down a 60 in front of y’all’s staff.

Will he be coming back for a visit in the fall? Thanks for sharing.

I do believe we’re going to need a kicker when Trey Smack graduates.
He’s a junior right now.

Wow I never realized he was actually good enough for an SEC scholarship, congrats.

For sure. Technically he probably still has an Official Visit. When we visited it was still a PWO+NIL offer, so they couldn’t cover costs.
Just need to pick a game late in the season (after the HS season is over).

He’s skinny, but sends it really well.

LSU and Ole Miss are the only home games in November.

Good luck to you and your son wherever he lands. Hope you both are enjoying the process.

He's wirey! Good for him! Tell him to enjoy the process.

He’s like the wind up, rubber-band airplane. Somehow he’s tweaked to his fingertips.

bullshite that they note he’s No. 5 nationally according to the On3 Industry Rating when On3 has him as the No. 1 2025 kicker in their own ranking. He’s No. 5 in the Industry one because Rivals has him as a 2 star.

Congrats on the write-up. I need to make me a BSL trip soon. Best wishes to your son from a fellow piece of coast trash over in OS

Hopefully one of Bart Edmiston’s brothers gets bit by the kicker/punter bug. Their dad was a badass.
My son is good friends with Bart…hopefully he has another great year.

aside from your son, i assume you've met and talked to Napier personally.
if so, i'm curious what your thoughts are on him as a person and a coach and how it compares to his image in the media.
as i type that out, i realize you probably can't really give your personal opinion of him due the risk of your son losing his scholarship offer (potentially).

I’m not really sure what his image is within the UF base, but I do understand y’all expect to play for SEC titles.
My son has a national kicking coach who serves as his main recruiter…calls coaches and places kids based on skill…and he’s always gone to a ranking service who does the same, coaches call that fella directly…give me your top 3 available kickers sort of thing.
None of that happened with UF, y’all simply weren’t looking for a kicker. A local restaurant where I live has a lively bar and I was talking to a fella from BR. Football came up and he said his son was deeply involved in college football at UF. I said no shite, my son is the best kicker his class. So he gave me his son’s number…who is the director of player personnel (I don’t know this).
I call and we talk…there really isn’t much he can do…just told me when their kicking camp is. We go. My son kicks with 120 other kids. We didn’t watch. We show back up and they have him off to the side…they’re about to start a competition. We go over to him and the assistant says Coach wants to talk with y’all. Bring us upstairs and we go to sit down…they say no, Coach wants to see y’all. We get pushed to a door in the corner. Billly opens the door with a big smile and shakes our hands…praises my son for his kicking that day, and being the top kicker…knows we’re from Louisiana and seemingly has read a bio on us and my son. Says he’d love to give him a scholarship…but it’s far out. We talk about Lafayette and he gushes on the people there. He is very generous with his time…we leave, drive back home…was a great visit.
No more contact. My gets scholarship offers from Ole Miss and Arkansas later that summer, commits to the latter.
This spring I ask my son where he wants to kick and says what about UF. I get in touch with the assistant that brought us up to see Billy and he says Oh we have a new kicking coach (Coach Houston from the Patriots)…bring him for a private visit. We take him and he murders it…end of it goes 60, 60, 62 with their holder and snapper. Minutes later we’re sitting on couches in Billy’s office talking for 30 minutes or so…really strange being in an interview with your son and a man who makes $7.2mil/yr. He’s super easy to talk to, smiles a lot, talks about family trip to 30A upcoming, we’re stopping there for a short vacation on the way home. Anyway, he says we’re getting you back here soon, show you all what we have on a more personal level. At that point it’s a PWO+NIL offer.
The kicking coach calls us and asks if we’re available for a OV, only they can’t pay for it since it’s not a scholarship offer…we say frick it, sure. We drive back to UF on their big recruit OV and spend a bunch of time with the staff. Sit down with Billy, get a full campus tour, and an introduction to all player programs, and dinner with the position coaches. We set up a group text with the staff.
We get Billy’s vacation pics and general UF stuff…Billy texts all the time (just yesterday, and the day before…) but when it starts I laugh to my wife that it isn’t Coach Napier texting…she disagrees. Whatever.
My son goes to the national invitational camp that he’s won a couple times and the UF kicker Trey is working it. He charts Ev and they hang out. Ev charts the best of his class again and makes the finals…bounces a 60 off the cross bar (charted 30 balls and just a ton of kicks over 2 days) and ends up not winning the comp…oh well, kicked great, both the UF and UGA kickers were most impressed by his skill.
Get home and that week the 2025 rules change (and I’m sure Trey relayed Ev’s performance), Billy calls and offers Ev a full ride with a redshirt year if it ends up being that way. Tell him we’re passing through soon and he says stop by again. We stop by on their first day of camp and do not expect to see the head coach. Not so, we talk again for while and he’s as calm and nice as ever and very complementary of Ev’s summer of kicking.
That’s where we stand. Couldn’t imagine a nicer or better coaching staff, better facilities, or simply the vibe in the Operations building. Everyone is up beat and has a smile, everyone…everyone. Y’all have a great thing going in Gainesville.
