Sure he does. But this is the ugly side of recruiting, and at least we didn't pull his offer the day before NSD, unlike other SEC schools have done.

I understand that it happens, but criticizing him for "pulling this shite" is dumb.

Sounds good to me
Once Drew Richmond busts out in the next year or two then the UTk/MUS pipeline will be completely broken.

Butch Jones - the dumbest man (allegedly) in all of CFB.

If Tennessee thinks they can flip Dodson, lots of luck!

Should have kept him. Huge screw up by Vols to be burning bridges in Tennessee.
Vols think the young man's Coach isn't going to remember this?

Good strategy for the short term, but you have to wonder about the long term consequences.
Just like a new coach selling "up and coming" and instant playing time, eventually this tactic runs out of runway. It will turn into a negative recruiting goldmine if Jones keeps it up.

Lol at all the Ole Miss posters jacking each other off over this thread. Memphis/West TN really has zero bearing on Tennessee's recruiting success. Sucks for Hart but I didn't think it was a good take at the time and looks like I was correct. VOLS should only dip into Memphis to grab the elite prospects, a la Drew Richmond, and leave the slaw for OM, State and Arky to fight over in that wasteland.

Yes, we recruit "slaw"...

Yeah .... lulz, I can really tell that you are familiar with how recruiting Memphis works.
Butch had to work to get back into Memphis ... then he works to burn Memphis.
Go figure.

Memphis HS coaches are terrible. Most all of their highly ranked prospects (the amount of these is dwindling anyway) bust big time. I would be fine if we never signed another player from Memphis.
They are good for basketball only.
Stick to Mid TN and GA.

I agree. As was mentioned earlier. we should cherry pick in Memphis, but having Mid TN, Georgia, and Carolina is more important.
Plus Memphis is a terrible place.

It's shitty, but recruits do the exact same thing.
Easy way to stop this is to allow recruits to sign the LOI at any point after their JR. yr. limit recruiting to that point to only phone calls, text, social media etc. no campus visits or coaches going to their school.
Very easy way to find out who REALLY means it. Both recruits and schools.

You're painfully misinformed, scrooster. Go look at the number of Memphis kids Butch Jones has signed or even attempted to recruit before saying nonsense like this. There was no "work" to be done in Memphis because Memphis is no longer a football hotbed or a priority for UT.
Like others ITT have stated, Mid-State TN, Georgia, Virginia and the Carolinas are much better places to spend time on recruits.
Attempting to build a fence around a shithole 400 miles away is a lost cause.

Don't worry everyone, I will put my mediation skills to work. Ole Miss gets west TN. UT gets east TN. We split middle TN 50/50. That seems like the directions its going anyway.

Had Jancek stayed, it's likely that Hart would have been part of this class. It sucks to cut kids like this, but Shoop should be able to assess the commits and recruit his own guys.

I hear you but it is awful close to signing day. I don't like to see a kid get put in this position.

I hear you there, it sucks.
