Really good, hate that we lost him but it seems like we're all in on Malone.

Yeah, he's good. I knew this was coming when UF offered last week.
No sour grapes, but I do wonder if playing time may have caused him to reconsider. North, Croom and Pig are getting better every week. Either way, good pickup for UF

Reliablae poster on VQ said that the staff knew a few weeks ago the staff doubted they could keep hi and the other Juco WR that is/was committed. They liked Malone better than either (not that they did not like the JUCOs) and decided to go all in on him and not waste time with the others bc they felt better about landing Malone than keeping the other two.

They aren't worried about Jackson picking another school - he just won't make it into any school is the problem with him.

I don't think a JUCO WR is nearly as much of a need as it looked earlier in the year, imo.

North,Croom,Smith are all making big strides and will be sophomores. They finally figured out how to use Pig. Add Malone and Booth to the equation and I'll think we'll be alright.

I think we need a JUCO. Croom and Smith haven't proven anything to this point other than they both have trouble catching the ball.

I can't believe UF has zero serviceable WR and it's been that way for years. immediate playing time for this JUCO WR.

They've become much more reliable over the course of the season. I mean it wouldn't hurt to bring in a JUCO I'm just saying it's not nearly as big of a need as it looked like earlier in the year.

Fwiw, I think Jackson is the bigger loss of the two receivers imo

Eta- we could probably better use one of the spots on another tailback now that it's confirmed Paulk blew out his knee.

Supposedly, he's a very solid prospect, but with the emergence of our 3 freshman, Croom, Pig, and North, taking a couple of JUCO wide-outs seems like a waste.

Bring us Malone, which looks more and more likely every day, and a few more JUCO OL and DL, and we'll be set.

Edit: It also sounds like we have a legit shot at Braxton Berrios. Berrios and Malone would certainly take precedence over two JUCOs.

He's going to be a good one. I never understood why we we're taking so many WR this class with everything that we have. Shitty he's not going to sign, but we have more then enough depth at WR and need to grab a few guys on the LOS. WHere ever he goes he should make a impact

Yeah, I'm not concerned.

Malone, Hurd, Gaulden, and Kelly could be the most talented in-state haul Tennessee has ever had.

The crazy thing is Gaulden, the lowest rated of the three, may be the best of the bunch.

quote:

"He could definitely get a bump. We have talked to a lot of people, both in the college game and involved with the ratings, who think Gaulden would have been a potential five-star guy if he hadn't sat out in 2012." - Rob Lewis on Gaulden

Buck Fitzgerald said awhile back that he thought Gaulden was better than TK2. Either way, it's good to have both.

And it truly is amazing how quickly Butch has repaired all these high school bridges that Doofus burned.

JuCO WR's rarely pan out. Patterson was the exception, not the rule.

So true. For every CP it seems like there is 50 Kenny O'Neals.

What are you talking about? We have one serviceable receiver right now.
