I've been reading the St Louis newspaper articles on the top ten large school teams in the metro area and in just about every article, they mention a sophomore or junior that will be critical to the success of the team. This thread is meant to highlight some of those players that may end up being on the recruiting radar for some SEC teams in the future. If the players have a recruiting site profile, I'll link it, but I haven't found many of them yet.

Xavier Sneed - WR - 2016 Hazelwood Central
Team Profile
quote:

Vanatta is particularly high on his group of receivers. In addition to Quarells, sophomore Xavier Sneed (6-4, 190) and senior tight ends Charles Smith and Jordan Ritchie (both 6-2, 250) show a lot of promise.

Sneed is a highly thought of basketball prospect playing forward for Hazelwood Central. I haven't seen much in the way of football news on him, but he's got size at the WR position and high level athletic ability. He is teammates with Roderick Johnson, who is being recruited by several SEC schools for 2014, so he should be seen by a lot of coaches this season.

Robert Taylor - G - 2015 Kirkwood
Team Profile
quote:

Junior Robert Taylor (6-2, 285) will be at guard.

No info on him other than his size. Starting on the OL for defending state champions.

AJ Paul-Torres - LB - 2016 O'Fallon, IL
Team Profile
quote:

The linebacking unit is keyed by Marques Cooper (6-0, 210) and sophomore A.J. Paul-Torres (6-0, 205), a transfer from St. Louis U. High.

Plays on a team with a couple high level 2014 recruits, so he'll be on the radar early if he shows some talent this season.

Michael Slater - RB/DL - 2015 Parkway Central
Team Profile
quote:

Running back Augie Brooks rushed for 1,584 yards, and 270-pound junior running back Michael Slater added 455 yards rushing and a team-high 11 touchdowns.

Scout Profile
Scout lists him as a DE, newspaper lists rushing stats. Big athletic kid. Plays on the same team as a current Notre Dame commit, will get seen this year.

There are more guys that I will list later as more articles come out. I will try to update this thread periodically also. I know there is at least one very highly rated 2015 from East St Louis I haven't listed yet.

And none of this is scientific, I know very little about these players. Just an informational thing to give people some players to look out for in the future.

Thanks for the names and info. Here's one I'll add from an article I just read. Plays for East St. Louis, who has 2 of the top 5 players in Illinois in Beckner and Strong, so this kid should get plenty of looks from scouts as well. Freshman WR Jeff Thomas. At 5' 11", I'd imagine he still has a couple/few more inches to grow too as he's going into his freshman year.

quote:

The Next Big Thing

The East St. Louis football program is as tradition-rich as any school in the state, turning out several championship teams and many, many scholarship players.

As this year’s team looks to bring home another title, they’ll need freshman receiver Jeff Thomas to come up big and Sunkett is figuring he will.

“We have an incoming freshman that’s going to really turn some heads this year,” Sunkett started. “A fleet-footed wide receiver. The kid is 5-10, 5-11, one of the fastest kids on the team right there with Nate.

“This will be the first freshman receiver we’ve had start. That’s saying something right there. Just very explosive. Out of our four wide outs he’s head and shoulders above everyone else right now.”

Missouri is already recruiting Thomas.

As for 2015 class, East St. Louis has 2 kids that are very highly rated.

Terry Beckner Jr. is a 5* DE who I believe is the #2 ranked player in the country for 2015.

LINK

Natereace Strong is a 4* RB who is ranked 3rd in the state of Illinois.

I looked on 247 and found some more players and profiles.

Xavier Snead
Lists Iowa as having interest.

Michael Slater
No teams listed.

Kyle Markway
6'4" 225 TE in the 2015 class. Vianney HS. Lists offers from Iowa and Indiana.

Marcus George
Another Hazelwood Central kid. They seem to have a shitload of talent there. 6'5" 230 TE in the 2015 class.

And unfortunately, Mizzou for whatever reason has not had strong ties at Hazelwood Central.

On a side note, thinking of going to the East St. Louis game Friday night. They host Rockhurst, from the KC area, that is one of the better HS programs in the state.

Good luck.

I haven't looked at the local schedules yet, but I may check out a DeSmet or Kirkwood game this year.

I know he's not an underclassman, but anyone know where Brian Wallace is leaning?

Two predictions for Iowa on 247.
We are after him pretty hard.

We could use you on the Mizzou board!!

I would start a thread for you on the Mizzou board but the last one I started didn't go so well.

It was my bad for even starting the "Let Patton in" thread. I assure you, had I started a "Kick Garfield out and let Patton in" thread you would have made it.

Eta: Once again, you had universal support (not a single "no" vote and multiple "yes" votes) but they don't want to let anyone else in until things settle. Just a matter of time. I have tried to keep quiet for the most part until you get access.

I'm sure I'll catch some DeSmet games. My alma mater and son wants to go there. I have 15,000 reasons why he won't though.

There was a lot of buzz he was leaning Arky after his visit but as it gets further from the visit, the buzz has worn down. Doesn't mean it's not the case still, I think the talk just fades away naturally with time. And none of that is insider info. Just the buzz from talking to other locals who know someone who knows someone who knows someone if you know what I mean.

What I do know is Mizzou is not in the running unless something changes.

Arky has done a good job recruiting Missouri but so has Iowa. I wouldn't take them light anytime there name pops up on a Missouri recruit.

I would start one if he/she's interested. I know many on our board feel we're a microcosm of the SEC and grew too big too fast and want to slow it down a bit instead of going through another round of expansion, but I'd still push for it.

Pretty sure it's a she and I think ProjectP2294 would be a great addition.

Let's get through the first weeks games. Maybe in the excitement of a win some of the Mizzou posters will feel more comfortable admitting more to the board.

I totally agree with whatever you think. I know from speaking with him that Patton is fine with waiting. I haven't spoken to Project, but if I know her, she would be fine with waiting too.
