Your flaw in this "I'm the bigger man" charade is that you falsely assume that we've all developed some awful envy of Auburn. I think I speak for every Georgia poster when I say that our disdain for Auburn far outdates and transcends some momentary success Auburn has come into. We don't rip on Auburn because we're jealous. We rip on Auburn BECAUSE YOU'RE frickING AUBURN. We have hated you since the 1800s and we hated you before Fairley. We hated you before the 80's and we hated you since Dooley. Now that doesn't mean we can't carry rational discussions with Auburn fans, but you'd best believe they're going to be tinged with our resentment. I would only hope to have that hate reciprocated, given the history between the two schools. If you claim to be above all of that then I'm afraid you don't understand this rivalry or Auburn football in general.

Me, Damn Good Dawg, Tyler, Crow, Dallas, Dawgfan230940, Crispy, WG, etc.. Just because a thread is made about Auburn, doesn't=jealousy. Sometimes, you need to relax, nothing wrong with poking fun at your rivals. AU fans do the same.

I know plenty of Auburn fans who grew up in Alabama andgraduated from Auburn. This could not be further from the truth. They may loathe Bama more, but there is a deep hatred for UGA. No different than any UGA fan will tell you that we get a sick satisfaction out of beating Tech in anything and everything - moreso than any other rival - but we still wish nothing but the worst on Florida and Auburn. You can hate more than one team. In fact, I'd say that as a fan, if you're only hating one other team then you're less a fan of your chosen team and moreso a supporter of another team's demise. The latter seems like a pretty miserable way to go about things, if you ask me.

The Auburn graduates who originally come from Georgia or move there after graduation might very well hate Georgia. I know a few that do hate Georgia. However, those peope make up a small percentage of the Auburn fan base. I have never met one person who lived in the state of Alabama who had any deep seeded hatred for Georgia. At least not before your constant whining over the last few years

The rivalry between Georgia and Auburn is actually built up to be a friendly rivalry by the media in the state of Alabama. If there was so much obvious hatred for Georgia over here, I don't think the media would portray it that way

It is friendly relative to the Iron Bowl. That's their point of reference. On our end, DSOR is friendly relative to our Tech game or the WLOCP. All that said, it's still a rivalry. Friendly is a relative term.

I know many more people in Alabama than any Georgia poster on this board and I have never detected any widespread hatred for Georgia in this state. I can't think of a reason why there would be any such hatred. Not many Georgia fans over here and you rarely hear or see anything about Georgia in the local news

Thank you for so eloquently explaining the meaning of a college rivalry.
I can handle much of the stupid back and forth on this board and the Rant, but I will never understand why someone can't just simply hate a school for what they represent. It has nothing to do with jealousy.
And, quite frankly, you are not exactly perceptive if you didn't enter this thread knowing from the first post what it would be.

Also, I don't think you actually can differentiate between hate/strong dislike and jealousy.
Do I wish we had a national title recently? Absolutely.
Would I rather us have one than Auburn? Sure. I'd also rather us have one over UF and Bama.
Does that make me jealous? Not really. Just frustrating that we've gotten close and haven't gotten it yet. It'll happen, hopefully sooner than later.

This. I'd like to make it clear that I am not jealous, I just fricking hate AU.
Moved to Huntsville when I was like 6 months old and of course I had to choose a side. That side was Alabama. I was still very young when we moved back here to GA and due to my proximity to Athens and the number of UGA alumni in my family, I became a Bulldog fan. But Bama will always have a place in my fanhood while AU will always be one of my most hated teams, understandably.
What is funny about this is that I am the same way about UF, but in real life, I get along with AU and UF fans better than almost any others.

This thread also went sideways because Georgia fans like you have a greatly inflated view of their football program and think it is better than schools like Miami, Ohio State, and Southern Cal.
