There’s no way oregon is going to be able to keep selling the “Nike” brand right?

I mean if they’re really telling recruits if you come here Nike will hook you up but only if you come here, every school in this country that has Nike will be going to under armour or adidas. Are Nike CEO’s really gonna let Phil knight do that to them?

So I can get $100 mil from Nike but not get the top west coast recruits, or I can get $50 mil from adidas and maybe get a few good west coast recruits...?

That’s not what Oregon is telling recruits. Also, Nike supports a ton of schools like you said. The pitch is much more nuanced than Nike. One of the better degrees at Oregon is image and branding. They’re selling kids on infrastructure and not just Nike.

Nike will support other school unis, but the big incentive will go to recruits who choose Oregon.

Didn’t they just land a 5* tackle from Houston?

The Ducks landed a couple kids from Texas the last few weeks. Kelvin Banks was the big one . . . .he was the 5* recruit thought to go to A&M but he chose Oregon. There was another kid, Cam Williams, who was not as high profile but was thought to be a Texas lock and committed to Oregon out of the blue.

I think it is part Mario Cristobal selling the program successfully and another part Oregon selling the NIL angle quite nicely. Cristobal is building a rep as a s serious recruiter. I also think Phil Knight is the reason for Oregon flash, not really Nike corporate.

I am of course skeptical of how all this ends. Texas kids have round tripped Oregon so many times over the years. I think Lache Seastrunk was the last one . . .5* running back who came home to Baylor after a year.

same, I don’t care how good you sell it, I find it hard to believe you’ll find a pipeline worth of kids who are willing to leave everything behind and go across the country at 18. Even schools like bama only rarely sign kids from the west coast and even when Pete carrol was at usc he only got a handful of kids from the south. Only one I can remember is that quarterback from Louisiana

Oregon has been successful with Texas kids. Lache was the only 5 star. However, Darron Thomas, LaMichael James, Joshua Huff, and Bralon Addison are all-time greats for Oregon.

Bralon Addison's greatest achievements were becoming 2nd team all conference once and going on to playing for the Hamilton Tiger Cats.

Most all of that Texas recruiting action then was because Chip Kelly and staff were paying Willie Lyles to influence kids and that in turn resulted in NCAA sanctions and probation..

I couldn’t care less about what he did after Oregon. Also, Oregon has sucked at wide receiver, so 2nd team is an achievement.

Oregon wasn’t the only one paying Lyles and Chip got a show cause and I think we were reduced a schollie.

Try again.

Any Nike school can do this and should do this.

Not to mention Tra Carson for y'all.

He was a 3* and we had a major logjam at RB. Reminds me how good our RB coach was.

There are so many kids from the SEC footprint coming to Oregon now. We’ve only been trimming deadweight. Not worried.

Point is that Oregon's only recruiting success in Texas involved a small stretch when their coaching staff was bribing a now exiled, notorious Street Agent Willie Lyles. When that got shut down, kids magically lost interest.

Now we have another surge in kids suddenly being interested in Oregon. I doubt it lasts.

You seem mad. Mario produces OL talent. Outside of Banks, it’s low 4 star and 3 star talent. Verone McKinley is one of the best dudes on the team. He will show them the ropes.

Yeah, the difference is Cristobal has a staff that knows the footprint. The Chip Kelly staff was in unfamiliar territory.

Not mad . . . just skeptical and pointing out the obvious. Cristobal has to win to attract recruits and he s#$T the bed in his one season. He is no Chip Kelly . . .way far away from it so far.

I hope these kids succeed and have a great career. Still, trying to map your statement of Texas kids having great success at Oregon is pretty much linking to the Chip Kelly, NCAA Sanction episode of luring kids through shady arse street agent handlers.

Hopefully Cristobal is up to more than that.

Cristobal took over a 7-6 team and went 9-4 with a bowl win, 12-2 with a Rose Bowl win and then last year’s abortion of a season where he was the only PAC 12 team to play an entire season.

Stfu. Hopefully the kids are higher IQ than those on Aggie boards.
