The narrative that “Georgia is the new Ole Miss” is asinine

Kirby’s first full recruiting class was 2017 when he finished 3rd.
The class Ole Miss cheated on was 2013. The one with Nkemdiche, Treadwell, and Tunsil.
UGA average class rank the previous 10 years: 7.8
Ole Miss average class rank previous 10 years: 23.7
Ole Miss literally went from 48th to 8th in a year.
Georgia went from 6th to 3rd in a year.

Stop. Now.
That is only a narrative among trolls.

Don’t even entertain the comparison. They’re not even close to similar situations, we know it and they know it. It’s just what other fanbases whine when they get beat at a game that everyone is playing and has played for as long as football has been around

There was nothing in either NoA that incriminated ole miss in the recruitment of any of these players outside of minor items for Tunsil like improper housing (stayed at the DL coach’s house and slept on his couch one night) and around $700 in total benefits
Ole Miss got the hammer from a player in the 2015 class.
Hope your signees enjoy their new Raptors.

UGA is the new Oklahoma.

I think we passed Oklahoma when we actually won a Playoff game.
UGA is in its own category with, maybe, Oregon.

No, go look at the Tiggah recruiting board. They are salty AF and can't seem to separate the two.

Georgia should start to see the results of that recruiting the next few years. Letting Fields get away is the only mark I can give against Kirby in recruiting

Assuming Newman plays well in 2020, ultimately the Fields loss, while irritating and a detractor to the program in general doesn't actually end up playing out all that bad for us.
I'm not sure 2019 looks any different with Fields at QB, maybe we beat South Carolina, but I still think LSU just had too much offensive fire power to hang with given our struggles at Wide Receiver. So then, we're potentially tasked with a rematch against LSU in the first round of the playoffs?
And the net result of 2019 was Kirby finally realizing he needs to maybe take his hand out of the cookie jar a bit on offense and go hire someone who can truly manage it.
All this is still hypothetical and it could go down in a flaming trash heap, but I *think* the net result of Fields leaving might actually end up putting us in a better spot, given that he's gone to the draft after this year almost definitely. Weird to think about, and particularly given the divisiveness it's seen within our own fanbase throughout the 2019 season.
