they do both. They recruit and build relationships in an area. They use their contacts to find players and get in the door once they do. They get the kid interested and then the position coach takes over. Position coaches then close.

Can't blame you for being optimistic, still think he ends up at LSU. That being said, I don't think this will affect his decision much. Yates was not his position coach, and Sumlin has made Speedy his personal priority. Additionally, Cobra killed it with his in home visit according to even your insiders. That being said, I have a hard time seeing him and Willis splitting up.

As long as I don't have to watch our DB's play 12 yards off the ball on 3rd and 5 anymore, I'm good with it.

He was also co-DC. It's not great timing for recruiting, but I'm excited to see who we can bring in to help the defense.

A lot of the TAMU fans say that this was simply a title and that he was nothing more than a DB coach & recruiter.

Heard today that DSG is rethinking his TAMU commit. He has to be quick, since he's an EE.

Another TAMU coach may move to Boise also, to coach DBs. And that coach came from West Mesquite last year, I think.

DSG is not flipping. It's not "247" projecting a flip. It's one dude, and he has no clue what he's talking about.

It sounds crazy, but that's what I heard last night also. I just figured everyone would laugh if I said he was thinking about Boise.

Beaty is his recruiter right?

Yes. DSG has been committed to A&M for a year and is moving to school in a few days but now that he heard his position coach is leaving he is going to drop everything and move across the country to freaking Boise, Idaho to play on the Smurf field which he probably has never come within 1000 miles of in his life. K.

Nick Harvey makes me nervous, I am not nervous about DSG at all.

Crazier things have happened in the recruiting world FWIW. I know A&M is new to the recruiting landscape, but these things happen all the time believe it or not.

Seantrel Henderson from Miami--->commits to USC--->released from USC----->Goes to Miami (Happened within 3 days).

Janzen Jackson

Anthony Johnson @ LSU now changed his commitment from Tenn to LSU because of Frank Wilson.

Torshiro Davis

Eddie Vanderdoes

Cassius Marsh

Gunner Kiel

Patrick Miller

You can shite on Boise all you want, but they more than double your programs' success in the last 10 years, and apparently Yates is a guy recruits like.

I've been following recruiting since the '80s and A&M had the #1 Class in '87, it's not a new concept. I also vividly remember Harvey Williams who was an Aggie commit but had some girls tease him on the way to his ceremony and changed to LSU at the last minute.

That has nothing to do with this though. All those examples you bring up are guys that were recruited by both schools and they were simply flipping last minute.

Here you are talking about a kid from Suburban Dallas who has been committed to A&M for a year and hasn't even visited many other schools, much less Boise. Then saying this kid will suddenly decide literally days before starting classes at A&M to commit to Boise in spite of never having gone there or having any contact with the school. It's also the Dead Period so that school can't contact him or offer him a scholarship (he has over a dozen listed from major schools but Boise isn't on the list). The same Boise team that just lost its coach. Yet he is going to do this because his position coach from A&M decided to go there?

I mean I suppose it is "possible" but I would say it is far more likely Hootie Jones decides to go to Western Michigan.

According to whom? I don't see how you or anyone else could know that seeing as recruiting publications weren't nearly as rampant as they are now. This sounds like maroon glasses talk-------> back to texags farmer boy.

You are right, he probably ends up at TAMU.

But if you think he isnt at least considering Boise, you are wrong.

I'm sure he'll still end up at A&M, but it's not crazy talk to say he might flip. Sometimes these kids don't realize the magnitude of their decision until they're about to hit the campus as an official player. Especially with early enrollees who are probably about 17 years of age. Seems to happen every year that one guy somewhere doesn't show.

just for LSU alone, guys who were supposed to be ee's but didn't show or had some other issue.

gunner Kiel
Dexter pratt
cassius marsh
Patrick Miller (scholarship issue related to gunner Kiel happened right at ee deadline and Miller ended up at auburn)

Hootie Jones was supposed to be an early enrollee, and he de committed just now!
